Job Vacancy: Science & Innovation Officer
The Embassy's small science and innovation (S&I) team is part of a global network of UK Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) science & innovation officers.www.fco.gov.uk/science.
The S&I Officer will develop scientific collaboration and R&D partnering events with Swedish researchers, and collaborate with colleagues across Europe to engage other European partners.

The main duties of the position will be:
To develop and manage bilateral and multilateral partnering events.This will include designing events and programmes; recruiting UK and Swedish partner organisations, research groups and companies; collaborating with S&I network colleagues to identify suitable participants; overseeing practical aspects of event organisation and post-event evaluation.
To identify areas for improved technology transfer & scientific collaboration with Swedish organisations such as energy technologies, nanotechnologies and life sciences, including
through a programme of visits to research institutions and universities.To prepare, for a non-specialist UK audience, concise and timely information on recent science
& innovation policy and technological developments in Sweden.
Providing assistance to the Regional Science & Innovation Manager (based in Stockholm).

Required knowledge and skills:
Science & Innovation knowledge & skills
You should have a degree level education, preferably in the sciences or engineering and an ability to handle a wide range of science-related issues.You will be able to demonstrate an
understanding of technology transfer mechanisms and have knowledge of key Swedish S&I sectors, and the ability to develop in-depth expertise in covering them.Some knowledge of
EU funding schemes for science/research will be useful.
Delivering results & customer focus
A key element of this role will be to develop and deliver partnering events working closely with the Embassy team, stakeholders in the UK, Sweden and wider Europe.You will need
to demonstrate the drive and the necessary financial and resource management skills, including effective time management, to achieve outcomes to meet UK customer needs.

Working with others
Maintaining contact with colleagues and contacts in the UK, Sweden, and in other UK Embassies around Europe will be an important part of the job.

Further details
You will need to be fluent in written and spoken English and Swedish.
