Science Teacher

The Stockholm International School is a private co-educational day school serving the business and diplomatic community.It's student body numbers 340, representing over 50 nationalities.The school encompasses grades reception through twelve.

The Primary, Middle Years and International Baccalaureate Diploma Programs form the basis of the school's academic mission.All three programs of study are inquiry-based methodologies designed to meet the individual needs of an exceptionally diverse student body.The International School of Stockholm regards the development of critical thinking and social responsibility, as well as the understanding of the broader concepts, as vital components of the learning process that are rightfully taught in unison with the acquisition of skills and knowledge.

SIS is housed in a well-equipped building in the centre of Stockholm, next to a park on a hilltop near the main downtown business area.The location offers easy access to a wide range of museums, parks, historical sites, and other places of interest that provide enrichment to the academic program.The school is accredited by the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools and by the European Council of International Schools.

TEACHING POSITIONS
Applicants must be passionate about the opportunity to participate actively in creating a learning-centred school.The ideal candidate would have some international experience and an understanding of the concepts of Teaching for Understanding and Visible Thinking.The candidate's approach, methodology, curricular materials and IT abilities will all reflect on their commitment to student-centred, inclusive education and a desire for excellence.The candidate will be willing to commit to developing and enriching the life of the school and of furthering the school's mission.Experience with, and enthusiasm for student advocacy is highly desirable (homeroom/advisor positions).

Teacher of Science: the candidate should be able to teach MYP science and should demonstrate a clear understanding of the philosophy of this IB program, in particular the ability to teach through the Areas of Interaction.As a specialism, physics would be useful, but all science backgrounds will be considered.
