The Institut Laue-Langevin (ILL), situated in Grenoble, France, and founded by France, Germany and the United Kingdom, is Europe's leading research facility for fundamental research using neutrons. The ILL operates the brightest neutron source in the world, reliably delivering intense neutron beams to 40 unique scientific instruments. The Institute welcomes over 2000 visits of scientists per year to carry out world-class research in solid-state physics, crystallography, soft matter, biology, chemistry and fundamental physics. Scientific Data Management Project Coordinator

You will be part of the European project PaNOSC (the Photon and Neutron Open Science Cloud). This project brings together six major world-class European research infrastructures to create a fully integrated, pan-European information and analysis infrastructure supporting the scientific process.

Duties:
The Scientific data management project coordinator will liaise directly with the Head of IT to handle the more strategic role related to the PaNOSC project.
Your main duties will be:
-Represent the ILL in PaNOSC Work Package 2 (FAIR data policy and Data Management Plan) and Work Package 7 (sustainability of the services developed in the scope of PaNOSC, business model for open data and services).
-Represent the ILL in the EOSCEnhance project dedicated to further develop the EOSC portal. Present the ILL need to the project and disseminate the outcome in the IT Service.
-Organise interactions with the ILL scientists in order to present services, projects and ideas, collect users' needs and feedback.
-Prepare memos for the ILL management on the progress of EOSC-related projects.
-Liaise with the ILL communication officers to ensure proper dissemination of the work achieved in the data management activities.
-Organise the construction of future collaboration regarding data management with the ILL partners, the IT Service and the scientists with the support of the EU office.

Qualifications and experience:
-PhD in one of the physical sciences (chemistry, physics, material science, earth science, etc) or Masters in computer science (or relevant subject), with significant experience working within a scientific community.
-Strong interest in scientific data management and science-oriented IT solutions.
-Previous experience of working in a neutron or photon science research center is an asset.
-Ability to interact with multi-disciplinary staff at the ILL and to collaborate with other European partners.
-Teamwork capability and good communication skills are essential.

Language skills:
As an international research centre, we are particularly keen to ensure that we also attract applicants from outside France. You must be proficient in English and be willing to learn French (a language course will be paid for by the ILL). Knowledge of German would be an advantage.

Notes:
This post is a "specified-purpose" fixed-term contract until End of November 2022.
Medical fitness for work under ionising radiation is required.
Post based in GRENOBLE, France, and subject to administrative screening.
