JOB DESCRIPTION
As the Scientific Service Lead, you will be an integral part of Moleculent's commercial team. Your primary responsibility will be to establish and lead a global professional service team comprising Computational Biologists, molecular biologists, and project managers. This newly created function will focus on assisting scientists in running pilot projects with our cutting-edge life science technology. Your role will involve communicating with customers to understand their project requirements and coordinating with the R&D team to manage the customer experience effectively.
Other key responsibilities:
- Set the strategy and program objectives in alignment with the business objectives. Create and monitor KPIs to track performance.
- Set project prioritization criteria and interface with regional commercial teams to execute on set priorities.
- Ensure customer and stakeholder expectations are appropriately set and projects are delivered in a timely manner.
As the Scientific Service Lead, you will engage in extensive internal and external interactions. Internally, you will collaborate closely with the R&D team to stay up to date on the latest protocols and provide feedback for product improvements. Additionally, you will work with the Commercial Field team to manage customer expectations and the service funnel, as well as collaborate with the Commercial/Marketing team to define service offerings and develop project prioritization strategies. Externally, you will interact with scientists and customers on a global scale, requiring flexibility in working hours.
This role combines project and people management, and it is important to note that initially, the role will involve more hands-on work and less managerial tasks. However, your responsibility will also include team growth, recruiting the right talent, and attracting top professionals to join our team.
QUALIFICATIONS
To fit this role, you should possess a Master of Science degree and preferably a Ph.D. (or equivalent experience) in molecular biology, biotechnology, molecular medicine, or a related scientific discipline. Knowledge of NGS and/or Proteomics is essential, and experience with tissue-based/spatial assays would be a significant advantage. Additionally, you should have a minimum of 3 years of experience in professional services within the life sciences industry, with at least 1 year in a leadership position. If you have specific experience in running a global sample analysis service, it will be considered a major advantage.
Proficiency in written and spoken English is essential, along with a strong command of MS Office is required.
To excel as the Scientific Collaboration Lead, you must have a deep understanding and genuine interest in Life Science research and new technologies. A customer-centric mindset, coupled with the ability to understand customer requirements, anticipate their needs, and deliver exceptional service, is vital. Your empathetic nature and active listening skills will foster strong relationships with team members, customers, and stakeholders. Effective communication and leadership skills are also crucial for success in this role.
Given the complex challenges and intricate customer requirements often encountered in the Life Science industry, your ability to analyze situations, identify problems, and come up with creative solutions is crucial. The start-up environment also requires you to be comfortable with ambiguity and flexible tasks, especially as this is a new initiative; even some hands-on work could be required initially.
