Role Summary/Purpose:

The Applications section within the Research and Applied Markets R&D reports into the Protein Analysis Department. The Protein Analysis Department consists of approximately 65 people divided into five sections, and is responsible for research and development of systems and system specific consumables (kits and reagents) for Biacore systems, Amersham Western Blot system and scanner/imager platforms. The department also provides market support, technical support, and product/process care.

Essential Responsibilities:

The Applications section is representing the customer in NPI projects and is also driving Market Support projects. The responsibility includes development of novel methods and applications, handbooks, instructions for use, technical and functional specifications, as well as development of the products. User and system requirement specifications, verification and validation are important parts of the assignment. The section also provides technical and market support activities such as event support, sales support, trainings, marketing material and customer collaborations.


We are looking for a Scientist focusing on method and applications development for Biacore systems, working with NPI development, technical support and market support activities.


The position includes participation in NPI projects; writing User and System requirement specifications, develop system concepts, performing system verification and validation, and supporting software and hardware development.


The position also involves providing technical and scientific support to Sales and Marketing functions with focus on Biacore systems within the Market Support projects; involving customer collaborations, strategic customer relations, event support such as conferences and user days, and developing applications.

Qualifications/Requirements:

Strong technical and application knowledge in Biacore systems
Considerable knowledge and experience of biophysical and/or biochemical applications
Experience from work in multidisciplinary environments
MSc, or preferably PhD degree, from relevant life science discipline
Experience of analytical lab work and trouble shooting
Proven ability of planning, executing and evaluating analytical experiments
Very good communication skills (both written and spoken), including presentation skills
Strong interest and skills in laboratory work
Strong external focus
Fluent in English, both verbally and in writing
EU work permit

Desired Characteristics:

Experience of market/customer support and customer relations
Minimum of 5 years of relevant industrial experience
Strong market understanding and business awareness
High interest in system usability aspects, e.g. system and software workflows
Knowledge and experience from product development, both systems and consumables
Technical and application knowledge working with Western blotting and imaging techniques
Swedish (verbally and in writing)
