Arbetsbeskrivning
In this project the candidate is expected to implement state of the art trajectory optimization methods in ABB's YuMi robot and perform a comparative study. Additionally, one of the methods has to be modified to handle an assembly skill, for example an insertion task, by incorporating the contact model in the optimization problem. A good report and preferably a conference paper is expected as a result of this project. This is a three month summer project (June-August) hosted at ABB CRC at Västerås, Sweden.
The candidate should have deep theoretical knowledge in robot kinematics and dynamics, optimization theory, and physical contact modelling. A good working knowledge of Robot Operating System (ROS), programming in Python/C++ and simulation environments like MuJoCo is expected. The candidate should also be experienced in operating ABB robots.
You will be part of The Mechanical Systems & Mechatronics Group at ABB Corporate Research in Västerås. In the role as corporate research unit we ensure ABB's technology competitiveness now and in future. We monitor, identify and develop the latest technologies in close collaboration with our business units, ABB's customers and leading universities worldwide.
In the Mechanical Systems & Mechatronics Group we are currently 19 researchers with main focus on robotics and rotating machinery with competencies within industrial robotics, machine design, machine elements, dynamics, and sensors & electronics.
