In this role as Scientist, you would join our R&D community at the Innovation Centre in Sweden and be part of a growing team and play a key role in developing new products driving forward Borealis’ strategy. You will have the opportunity to work and develop novel polymers and polymer compounds targeting Energy applications, e.g., power cable applications. You will work in international, cross-functional teams, where you will be involved in projects and use your expertise in developing new products where electrical properties of Polyolefins play a key role in final cable applications. You would be involved along the entire R&D process from idea phase to launch of new product in the market.
Besides working closely with other key functions internally at Borealis, you would also work together with external partners such as Universities, suppliers and industrial partners to ensure developing the right products for the market as well as ensuring we invest/develop state-of-the-art equipment, tests and methods. Knowledge and expertise on electrical properties with focus on high voltage power cable applications; e.g. space charge measurements, dissipation factor, conductivity, break down strengths as well as treeing, will be part of this role.
Areas of responsibilities:
Develop new polymers and compounds within the Energy sector, linking your fundamental understanding of polymer electrical properties & its relationship in cable materials and design.
Translate market requirements into polymer properties & overall structure-property relationship in cable design ensuring highest electrical performance.
Design of experiments & analysis of results, including open communication & ensuring proper documentation/reports.
Collaborate with Borealis R&D laboratories and production plants in the development of new polymers & testing of electrical properties.
Establish continuous interfaces with internal and external customers/suppliers in order to optimize development and utilization of own expertise.
Initiate and support patenting of new polymers and products.
Potential involvement in standardisation bodies and certification.

About you
You are the right candidate for this position if you have an academic technical degree (preferable PhD) in engineering technologies, most likely in Physics or Electrical. Excellent analytical skills, structured approach and understanding of electrical properties of Polymers with focus on high voltage cables. Working experience in Energy industry is a plus.
