About this role



ABOUT THE ROLE

As Scientist Protein Expression you will focus on expression of Affibody® molecules, in Affibody’s research pipeline, as well as in upstream process development after CD selection. You will independently plan and execute experiments, perform in-process analyses, analyze data, and report results to meet specified timelines and objectives.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities will include:
- Execute microbial transformation and prepare Research Cell Banks (RCBs)
- Plan and perform expression analyses as well as analyses of low molecular weight components and metabolites
- Participate and contribute in the Candidate Drug (CD) selection process
- In cooperation with other group members, plan and execute upstream and midstream process development
- Responsibility and accountability for generated results and given timelines
- Responsibility for documentation and reporting findings within given timelines
- Handling contacts with CMO during Tech Transfer and production.

As Scientist Protein Expression you will be part of the Protein Expression & Laboratory Service (PELS) team and will be directed by the objectives and demands of the research and development projects. You will report to the Principal Scientist, Head of Process Expression.


QUALIFICATIONS

The right candidate has an advanced degree in Life Sciences, ideally in Engineering Biology (300 credits), Molecular Biotechnology Engineering (300 credits), or equivalent. You have hands-on experience from work with microbial production, preferably for the production of recombinant proteins, in an industrial setting and experience from development of biopharmaceuticals is an advantage.
Further qualifications include:
- Experience from independent planning and performing of experiments and analyzing of data.
- Experience from downstream processing (DSP), experimental planning using Design of Experiments (DoE), and/or validation of analytical methods would be an asset.
- Good ability to communicate, document and present results in written and spoken English.

You have a solid theoretical background in bioprocess engineering and an ambition to keep track on the state-of-the-art within the field of bioprocess engineering. The right candidate has a good understanding of molecular biology and a great interest in practical laboratory work and the ability to absorb and generate new ideas, to plan experiments and to draw conclusions from generated results.
