Scientist: Up Stream Process Development

In order to support our customers and innovation hub partners NorthX Biologics is expanding our innovation and development services. NorthX Biologics will establish a new development organisation including new facilities, laboratories, and technology. To enable this, we are looking for a skilled Up Stream Scientist with a track record from protein or plasmid expression in microbial systems.
You will be supporting customer and technology development programs with expertise in fermentation and related technologies. In your work you develop effective and scalable production processes to ensure high quality and yields. You will be planning, executing, and reporting experiments in the fields of expression of proteins, DNA, and mRNA. You are experienced in common technologies such as microbial cell culture and harvest operations such as tangential flow filtration and associated in process analytical technologies. Preferably you have experience from research and development in an industrial setting.
Examples of duties are:
Planning and reporting of experiment in writing
Executing studies for expression of biologicals at different scales in the lab
Screening and optimising parameters to develop effective fermentation processes.
Assessment of new technologies/methods
Actively taking part in cross functional development projects
Procurement commissioning and testing of process equipment
Analyse results from experiments
Provide expertise within your field to other departments


You are motivated by being actively involved and working hands on in the lab. You are self-motivated and are able to demonstrate high levels of creativity and enjoy finding solutions to complex challenges. Applicants must be able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
You will ideally have a higher academic degree within a relevant field or several years of relevant professional experience. Experience from microbial fermentation is required.
