What you’ll do
At Volvo Cars, we have an ambitious growth plan for connected functionality and autonomous drive. We create safe products in a personal and sustainable manner with customer focus. Volvo cars’ ability to deliver customer centered innovative solutions with high quality standards and speed relies on efficient development processes, integrated quality and safety measures, and strategies in the development of our products. At the enabling Agile Release Train (eART) Software and Dependability at Solution Support within Software and Electronics Platform (SWEP), about 40 highly skilled professionals strive every day to serve Volvo Cars’ research and development (R&D) with processes, methods and tools enabling lean software development, quality, and safety assurance in our products. The eART gathers competence areas within Software (SW) Engineering Process/Methods/Tools and information (PMTi), Software Quality, product Cybersecurity and system safety. We are now looking for a Scrum Master for two agile teams (Team Akela and Team Safety) with a focus on end-to-end software development process, software built-in quality, technical risk management and system safety.

Team Akela is the go-to team for SW development, SW built-in quality, for the entire R&D and technical risk management for three product streams (software and electronics platform, connectivity, and safe vehicle automation). The team provides Volvo Cars R&D with support and training on all software engineering aspects and built-in quality, e.g., SW procurement/contracting, SW requirement management, SW design/architecture, SW integration and testing, SW configuration management, SW quality assurance, SW product part approval, SW auditing and related SW work products and information, associated SW development tool chains, applicable SW standards (e.g. ISO 12207, ISO 15288, ISO 15289, ISO 21434, ISO 26262, Automotive SPICE).

Team Safety is the system safety competence center for the entire Volvo Cars R&D and is responsible for continuous development and maintenance of Volvo Cars’ processes within system safety, including adaptation to agile ways of working, training, support development teams with expertise on the relevant system safety standards (e.g., ISO 26262 and ISO 21448), perform confirmation reviews of work products in system safety area, e.g., Hazard Analysis, Functional Safety Concept and Technical Safety Concept

As a Scrum Master you will continuously work with coaching the Scrum teams, refining the team’s processes, facilitating Scrum ceremonies, preparation, and readiness for ART ceremonies like PI Planning, System Demos and the Inspect and Adapt, supporting the teams with Definition-of-Done, WIP limits and removing impediments. 
Your responsibilities will include –
* Communicate status, escalate, and track issues when required and be transparent in documentation and communication.
* Facilitate the team’s progress toward team goals (in the areas of quality, predictability, flow, and velocity) as well as staying focused on the team’s iteration goals.
* Guide team efforts in continuous improvement by supporting the team in retrospectives and take responsibility for their improvement actions.
* Communicate with management and stakeholders 
* Being part of a troika with the team manager and the product owner supporting in managing the backlog, and in helping the team broaden its competence and manage team growth.

What you‘ll bring
We are looking for an experienced Scrum Master with genuine interest and experience in software development processes, quality and system safety. You have a a passion for team involvement and have the ability to lead through collaboration. You have excellent skills in both formal and influential/inspirational leadership such as coaching, active listening and empowering teams. You encourage people to try new ways of working and have perseverance. You are self-directed, organized and have an analytical way of taking on tasks and driving them forward.
* Master of Science degree or higher in a relevant area (mechatronics, computer engineering, etc.) is preferred and experience from research projects is valuable.
* More than 5 years of experience from leading cross-functional initiatives in product development, preferably within the automotive industry is preferred
* Experience with system/software development lifecycle is preferred. 
* Being Volvo Cars a global company, full proficiency in English is preferred.
