Section Manager External Resources

What you will be part of
Aeronautics, a business area of Saab, offers advanced airborne systems, related subsystems, unmanned aerial systems, aerostructures and services to defence customers and commercial aerospace industries worldwide. Aeronautics is also responsible for development, production, marketing, selling and supporting of the Gripen fighter.
External Resources is one section among five others within Area Structural Analysis, Airframe Development. The Area is responsible for development, structural integrity and airworthiness of the Saab aircraft products, such as Gripen and AEW’s. The Area Structural Analysis covers the main disciplines; Airframe Stress Military & Civil, Systems Stress, Loads, Aerolelasticity and Structural Dynamics. The organization is currently based on four sites in Sweden, and as well R&D offices in Brazil and India. External Resources is today more 100 consultants or partners.
The section manager is part of the management team and reports directly to the senior manager of structural analysis.



Your role
Depending on the design phase in the various projects, the need for capacity differs. Your main role is to support the organization with necessary resources and competences to staff our projects. Your mission is to adapt our capacity to meet the demands by introducing and developing partners, identifying work packages to be performed off-site and hiring or closing contractors. You will constantly find new ways of increasing our cost efficiency. The daily work covers the range from operative solutions to creating strategic plans and implement those. You will have responsibility to maintain and develop business interfaces with agencies and partners all over the world.

Your experiences and skills
Your roleWe are looking for the section manager of External Resources, Structural analysis. You will be responsible for1. Capacity balance with responsibility for consultant intake / termination according to business cycle and business environment2. Owning the relationship with all our partners and be responsible for making the contact with new partners3. Defining and delivering our external resource strategy as well as our footprint strategy4. Owning and driving the cost targets for external resources and deliver value to the organization

Your skills and experience•  Appropriate professional and postgraduate qualification in a business oriented or technical discipline.•  Minimum 10 years of relevant experience and a proven track record of driving organization to the next level.•  Strong business understanding and customer focus.•  Desire for innovation, both regarding technology and business models.•  Understanding and ability to work in an international environment and matrix organization.•  Proven ability to take decisions to improve profitability.•  Skills to combine strategic thinking with operational actions.•  Proven ability and interest in leading, developing and challenging the organization, management teams and employees.•  Strong drive, perseverance and ability to generate energy.
