Role Summary/Purpose:
We are looking for a temporary section manager for the Protein Tools Applications section from August 1 to December 31 2015. The Section Manager will work effectively as a member of the Protein Tools Department Management Group.
Essential Responsibilities:
The Protein Tools Department is a part of the research and applied markets R&D and responsible for research, development and support of various products primarily within lab media and sample prep. It consists of approximately 30 persons divided into 3 sections with different competence areas. The Applications section consists of 11 team members.
Essential responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Management of personnel, resources and activities within the section in order to fulfill project and department goals
The management and improvement of line activities for the section, including recruitment, training, development, motivation and leadership of staff in order to deliver all agreed objectives and to achieve scientific excellence
To ensure that staff have the necessary competencies and are organized to maximize impact on the projects.
To continuously monitor and work to improve the productivity of the section and the ability to deliver on time and budget.
To actively monitor quality of the work done by the section personnel and work to secure that project quality objectives are met.
Within assigned technology area supply resources, tools and process framework to the projects.
Provision of technical expertise and support to the Sales and Marketing functions for products and platforms in commercial/operating environments.
Review project work when requested by processes, project manager or whenever needed by other reasons.
Qualifications/Requirements:
At least MSc or equivalent in biochemistry or similar experience
Experience of industrial development/R&D
Documented experience in personnel management and team building
Demonstrated problem-solving and leadership skills
Proven mentoring and coaching abilities; demonstrated ability to motivate & inspire others
Structured and organized team player
Proven ability to work cross-functionally
Excellent communication and influencing skills
Good understanding of research customer workflows and needs
Strong external focus
Fluent in English and Swedish both verbally and in writing
EU work permit
