The Infrastructure Directorate at the European Spallation Source (ESS) in Lund, Sweden, invites applications for a Security Manager.

Description of directorate/division
The Environment, Safety & Health Division within the Infrastructure Directorate is responsible of the activities connected to safety (radiology, dosimetry, occupational safety, fire protection, emissions) for the personnel as well as to the public. We are also planning for the future security protection.

Description of main responsibilities
ESS Security Manager will be a part of the Environment-, Safety- and Health Division and have the overall responsibility in building up, implement and lead a systematic security management system within ESS.

The role includes set up of internal requirements for physical security, based on legal requirements and internal assessments, to be used in the design and construction of the facility. You will also ensure that a balanced security level is met timely for the construction phase.

ESS will implement an information security management system in line with ISO standard. Requirements and plans connected to information technology, will be implemented, monitored and managed by a specific appointed IT security manager who independently report to you on IT related security concerns. You will lead security investigations and support the organization during crisis or emergencies that demands both an operational and strategic capability.

ESS will use security contractors for daily operations as monitoring, patrolling and incident response where you set up adequate security instructions, implement routines and ability for following up.

In the role you will interact with regulatory authorities as well as municipal emergency authorities and response forces. 

Qualifications



• 10 years of security work experiences as a minimum, with at least three of those years in responsible charge of a security function

• Your background is within the police- or military authorities, or experience of security work at a nuclear plant. Alternatively, you have other security related work experience.

• Documented experience of security intelligence and/or investigations

• Documented experience of operational as well as strategic security work

• A general understanding of Swedish legislation as the Crime code, Data Protection law and Swedish security protection legislation.

• Good understanding in ISO standard ISO 27001:2006 and 27002:2005

As person you commit a high degree of security awareness and have a strong integrity. You have experience in performing security interviews, management of operational security work, crisis management, security investigations and proactive security communication. Furthermore you have experience and skills for providing security policies, strategies and guidelines including implementation of procedures connected to this.

You can work independently and take own responsibility for driving the process in implementation of a systematic security management system. Your English and Swedish skills are excellent both oral and written.

For this position, ESS will make a security control via a request to the Swedish Police and its international contacts (in Swedish "bakgrundskontroll").
