Senior Structural Engineer

This role will offer you the chance to utilize your engineering skills to its full extent and contribute to the strategic and detailed development of our solutions.
AlfaWall Oceanbird aims at becoming the market leading provider of wind propulsion solution to the shipping industry and thereby prevent contribution to climate change and other harmful emissions from shipping. The first installations are scheduled to be in operation on an ocean-going car carrier in 2025.
AlfaWall Oceanbird AB is a 50/50 joint venture, owned by Alfa Laval and Wallenius but operated as an independent company. We are now building up the team, with highly skilled, motivated and passionate people, that will form the core of this company.
Key responsibilities:
* Lead structural analysis and simulation efforts for AlfaWall Oceanbird products.
* Work together with mechanical designers and other cross-functional stakeholders to identify risks, strategically create simulations, plan and conduct validation testing, and deliver objective, data-driven engineering guidance.
* Perform and lead others in structural and fatigue analysis including linear and non-linear finite element static, vibration, modal and direct frequency response, and response spectra analyses.
* Through simulations identify & explain mechanics/physics behind different phenomena related to durability and strength of our products and components.
* Organize and lead structural design reviews, solution brainstorms, and implementation efforts
* Advance our team’s capabilities through the use of new methods, materials, technologies, and software tools.
* Work with classification rules to ensure safety and compliance of our products.
You are:
* You have master’s degree in structural engineering or equivalent
* 5-10 years of experience working in similar role
* Strong background in composite engineering including calculation, manufacturing and testing methods
* Extensive experience with structural and fatigue simulations of large structures, machine systems and components, preferably in the marine, aeronautic or wind turbine industry
* Experience in performing a wide variety of finite element analysis types
* Experienced with designing, building, and testing prototypes to validate analysis
* Strong team player, you thrive working together with other people and competences in reaching a common goal.
The position is based at AlfaWall Oceanbird in Tumba, Stockholm.
