The Painted Body, PB department is responsible for the development of body structures and surface treatment systems for all Volvo cars. Development work is mainly conducted within the department and in close corporation with manufacturing, suppliers, and external partners. 

Within PB, the Body Technology group are working with strategies, pre-development, concept development and operational development. We deliver new technical solutions, based upon our deep knowledge of materials, efficient structures and joining solutions for car bodies. The groups also work as a shared service for the ART with the joining product documentation (CAD). We now need to reinforce the group with a person working with joining development assignments focusing on welding, brazing and mechanical joining.

As an Advanced Engineering Leader, you will join the Body Technology Materials & Joining team and work with joining development and implementation in early stages as well as in the car programs, as a shared service within the ART painted Body. You will work in close collaboration with Technical Experts, with the ART engineering groups and together with Manufacturing and Procurement. Your network will be broad and stretch from design, manufacturing to external contact with suppliers and research partners. 

We are looking for someone who is flexible, with a strong interest in technical development and an innovative approach. We also expect that you will have strong networking and team working abilities, and with the skills to share knowledge and information.

We would like applicants to have an engineering background in a relevant area and knowledge in the field of joining development (strategy, qualification, standards etc). It is meritorious to have Joining development experience from testing and/or virtual development.

We are offering you an exciting job with development opportunities, as responsible for welding, brazing and mechanical joining engineering development within metallic materials, with focus on steel and/or aluminium joints connected to a variety of product applications. The job also includes supporting PB in various car programs with technical knowledge, sharing knowledge, results and educating others, and to identify needs and means for new technical solutions.
