The Challenge
Sustainability is now one of the three pillars that make up the very life and soul of Volvo Cars, just as safety has been since the birth of the company. The promise to be climate neutral and a circular business by 2040 means that we need to step up the game and widen our scope.
Do you have experience working with electronics from a sustainability perspective and like to be a part of an engaged and committed team? Then you should take the chance to join Sustainability Centre as Senior Analysis Engineer for Electronics, together we work to ensure sustainable materials in our vehicles. We have decided upon three focus areas to start with; steel, aluminum and electronics. Here you will get the opportunity to make real impact on us decreasing our environmental footprint.
Your Contribution
You will support the introduction of more recycled and sustainable electronics. You will collaborate with our developers, balancing material choices from a sustainability perspective and advice on how to design components for the ability to recycle our materials at end-of-life. You will create a roadmap to reduce CO2 from the electronics used in our vehicles. You will work together with procurement as well as define internal requirements that optimize the use of electronics and their sustainable end of life. You will identify and quantify KPIs that consider the sustainability of electronics and, last but not least, report progress and result to stakeholders at all levels.
Competence is Important
You have worked several years with sustainable electronics and gained an understanding that makes you see what is possible to do within the area. You will also need previous experience from selecting material in a big company.
Meritorious:
• Understanding of the complete supplier chain
• Understanding the influence recycled content has on electronics
• Experience from circular flow of electronics
• Experience in Life Cycle Assessment/Carbon Footprint
Personality is Key
You have very strong communication skills in order to communicate the importance of including sustainability aspects in the design process. You are structured, solutions-oriented and can take the lead. You are also a true team player with a pragmatic and holistic view. You have the drive to deliver, enjoy interacting with people and understand that collaboration will be key to make real impact.
