What’s in it for you?
We are now looking for a skilled Analysis engineer to complete our complete engine system studies team. We have the main focus to investigate, propose and develop new engine concepts for gasoline and diesel hybrid engine applications. We work from advanced engineering phase through early project phase until production start to define engine technologies and secure engine attributes such as fuel consumption, performance, driveability and emissions to fulfil customer and legal demands.
Our mission is to develop optimal concepts for internal combustion engines in order to fulfil the customer demands of tomorrow.
Innovation starts with being curious.
At Volvo Cars, we believe that being curious and truly committed to understanding people is the key to future success. We are people who care about other people, working together to create new technologies and innovations for safe, sustainable and convenient mobility. Want to join us?
Complete Engine System Studies & Design consists of 11 engineers working with the PPS concepts from Advanced Engineering (AE) phase to industrialization phase. As an Analysis Engineer, every day is a different challenge!
What you'll do
To be able to develop a robust engine which can offer the designated performance and fuel economy, we need to consider engine operation on vehicle. Several issues can influence the engine design for instance vehicle (body, weight and drag coefficient), level of hybridization, batteries, transmission, starter-generator, tires, road, environment, driving cycles and even its driver.
In this role you are expected to:
• Build any hybrid configuration with any level of electrification, including but not limited to: 48 volt mild hybrids with electric boost, strong power-split hybrid (HEV), parallel through-the road (TTR) or plug-in hybrids (PHEV).
• Build controls using a comprehensive controls library, including finite state machines in GT-SUITE, or co-simulate with Simulink to develop and optimize control algorithms
• Ensure optimized vehicle energy management
• Simulating integrated engine-vehicle in standard drive cycle tests and real-world driving emissions testing (RDE cycle).
Who you are
You would carry practical knowledge in GT-Suite as well as having basic knowledge in the functionality of engines, transmissions and 48V milled hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV) and 400V full hybrid electric vehicles (FHEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV). You will have basic knowledge in control algorithms.
You should carry an University degree: mechanical engineering, applied mechanics, machine design, energy, automotive engineering or related fields to internal combustion engines and vehicles.
You would have previously related works in engine simulation in GT-Power and related works in vehicle simulation in GT-Drive. You would also have previously related works in transmission simulation in GT-Suite and related work in V-Sim as well as knowledge in Matlab Simulink
