About the Team
The GAPP team runs everything from the first app experience and sign-up to other growth areas further into the app. The GAPP team will play an instrumental role in Storytel's future success, enabling us to grow our subscriber base from today's 2 million to over 30 million subscribers in 2030.

We are a small, cross-functional team where developers collaborate closely with designers and product managers to build end-to-end features. We are as passionate about the customer experience as we are about the technologies that drive our product.

About the Role

As a Senior Android Developer in the GAPP team, you will help us iterate on our signup and subscription flows, reduce friction and increase conversion in the onboarding. You will also have the opportunity to collaborate with other Android developers in our Android Forum, to ensure consistency with other feature teams and a high quality across our app.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to make a significant impact on our growth. Most of our new subscribers first create their account in one of our apps.

About You
We are looking for an experienced Android developer motivated by solving problems in complex systems with full-stack teams and getting involved in all of the stages of the development process, from ideation to shipping.

You care about delivering high-quality products and supporting others to maintain a high standard and understand agile principles and apply it to deliver a project in incremental phases. You have ambitions in technical leadership, ready to mentor more junior developers and be a role model.

In addition to this, you also:

Write readable, maintainable, performant, and testable code.

️ Have a deep understanding of modern Android development. Comfortable with Kotlin, Coroutines, Flows, and the Android lifecycle. If you are not yet comfortable with Compose, you will get an excellent chance to learn on the job.

️ Keep up to date with the latest best practices, common frameworks, and tools to continuously define a standard set of coding guidelines and best practices for the app.

Enjoy learning as well as teaching others. See best practices applied by educating, workshopping, pair programming, and other similar activities involving your co-workers.

️ Are used to the code reviewing process and understand that reviewing is as important as writing code.

‍💻 Have a methodical approach to debugging and fixing problems in distributed systems.

Are comfortable with experimenting and exploring new domains, both in business and technology.

Have an interest in our product and in helping our customers enjoy audio stories anytime, anywhere.

🇧 Excellent at writing and speaking English

And for some bonus points:

- Have experience with Google In-app subscriptions

- Have experience with authentication, OAuth, or Firebase

- Have worked with signup flows
