About the position
As a Senior Application Specialist Electric Machine Design engineer at Alvier Mechatronics you will be part of our energetic tech team that develops the next generation drivetrains for electric vehicles along with related technologies and applications. This is your chance to try your ideas in practice from concept idea to a working prototype.

In this role, you will explore innovative concepts using 3DFE and analytical techniques to design and simulate electromagnetic applications with focus on electric machines. The concepts will be based on Soft Magnetic Composites (SMC) or a combination of SMC and laminations feeding into the next generation of electrified automotive applications.

In this position you will work with a variety of different assignments, for example:  


• Design and simulation of electromagnetic applications with principal focus on electric machines and inductors based on SMC as well as other related technologies.
• Manage and/or conduct the development of tools, equipment and work methods for design, simulation and validation of electromagnetic applications.
• Validate theoretical simulations on prototypes in test-lab environment.
• Act as the technical expert link between the company and the providers of the simulation software.
• Support junior colleagues in their individual technical development.
• Participate in the coordination and the day-to-day follow up regarding cooperation with Newcastle University and other university partners

Hybrid office: Remote with possibility to work in office in Helsingborg, Düsseldorf and Newcastle. Travel up to 20-30 days per year.

Job requirements essentials:  


• You hold a PhD degree in electric machine design or equivalent 
• Experience from qualified electromagnetic design work from industrial research-based projects.
• A clear understanding of electrical machine design and a solid understanding of 3D computational electromagnetics with a proficiency in 3D electromagnetic simulations with tools such as ANSYS Maxwell or JMAG. 
• A general knowledge in mechanicaland thermal design as well as power electronics and their control.
• Experience of working in large multi-disciplinary projects.
• Basic knowledge of CAD modelling.
• Excellent communication skills in English – both written and spoken.
