Senior Automation Engineer

You will be part of ABB Mining in Västerås or Umeå. We belong to Industrial Automation and develop and sell complete mine hoists for transportation of ore, coal and supplies to underground mines. ABB is the only company on the market that can deliver complete systems, i.e. both the electrical and mechanical parts. Mining also offers the electrical package for trucks that are used for underground ramp transports, an environmentally friendly alternative to diesel trucks. In order to meet customer demands, we provide a complete solution for Mining Automation (Integrated Mine Automation Solutions, IMAS). Mining has the global responsibility (Center of Excellence) for underground mining applications within ABB.

Your challenges
As Senior Automation Engineer, you will be provided a highly visible position with the opportunity to influence and grow. Mining in Sweden is globally responsible for developing new solutions and managing delivery projects for underground mines. Here, your main mission will be to manage software deliveries in development and delivery projects. You will develop and improve methods and ways of working in order to increase productivity, and be responsible for estimating time and costs during projects´ tender phases.

Your profile
To successfully take on this position, you need to possess a great level of system thinking and have knowledge of our customers´ processes. This position also puts high demands on your interest in tools and methods used for software development and site construction. A customer and result focus is important. Not to mention your ability to take initiatives and find new solutions.

You hold a technical university degree with specialization in Electrical Engineering, Automation or Computer Science. A Bachelor´s or Master´s degree in Engineering with specialization in Software Development or Engineering Physics is qualifying. Experience from working with automation systems for the process industry is required, whereas knowledge of the mining industry and the ABB 800xA system is advantageous. A drivers´ license is a must, as is proficiency in English and Swedish.
