Senior Automotive Designer

We are looking for a Senior Automotive Designer to the Huawei R&D office in Stockholm.


BTS Engineering Lab in Stockholm is a highly creative, multidisciplinary, and international think-tank, dedicated to envisioning strategic product designs and turning them into innovative, working solutions.


Stockholm Industrial Design Team focuses on the design of next generation of ICT equipment, such as telecom units, indoor and outdoor small cells, smart home appliances, intelligent automotive solutions and more.


Now for the first time the Stockholm office is heading into the field of intelligent automotive solutions. This is a mile stone and means that the design team will need great knowledge and experience within the automotive industry in terms of trends, business and design.


Future projects can reach from complete vehicle design to automotive related components and to new conceptual products and services related to latest trends of transportation.


Design at Huawei:
Successful designs answer to both needs of human desirability, business viability and technical feasibility.
You will be challenged to identify meaningful insights from user observation, design trends, changes in society and shifting business models and translate them into appealing design proposals, excellent user experiences and innovative features with superior perceived quality.
You have an excellent sensitivity for shape, color and finishes and can rationalize designs semiotics, though you are not a stylist, but a true innovator with users at the heart and passion for detail.
You understand about branding trough design and will contribute to the generation of an integrated product portfolio.
You can quickly elaborate ideas, by sketching, 3d modeling, prototyping or 3d printing, for team communication, functional verification and/or aesthetic presentations.
You have experience and knowledge from transportation design and you can lead and drive this kind of project from research to complete concept.
You are confident in your design process and can create and communicate a project plan based on a project brief.

Key Responsibilities:
We are looking for our first automotive designer in Sweden.
You will be part of a creative design team consisting of industrial designers.
As the first senior automotive designer in Sweden, you will play an important role in ensuring the execution of the design from the sketch phase to the final concept.
You will have the opportunity to create new concepts for both interior and exterior design and be responsible for taking the design process from early research and concepts to prototypes.
We are looking for a senior designer who is used to work from the user's perspective.
You need to stay up to date with the latest trends in vehicle exterior and interior design as well. as consumer electronics, product, fashion, architectural and related design.
You need to be able to collaborate with our engineers, designers, and key stakeholders to create. a unified vision for the future car experience.
You are confident in project planning and can create and communicate your vision of the design process based on a project brief.
You will communicate your design and process in an inspiring and persuasive way.

Requirements:
University degree in transport design.
Worked for at least 5 years with car interiors (OEM preferred).
You have a proven track record with close interaction and successful deliveries toward well-known and prestigious clients.
A passion and interest for both transportation design and the field of smart tech consumer devices is a big plus as these worlds are merging.
The deliveries have given you an experience and convenience to understand, discuss with and present to senior management.
During these years you have lead projects with several designers but also continuously done hands-on design.
You prove excellent feeling for form, proportions, and CMF.
You have a strong understanding of global trends, technology, and fashion.
You are proficient using tools like CREO, Rhino, Keyshot and Adobe CC.
You are self-driven and know how to organize work and lead design.
All this above has given you national and international recognition.

This is a full-time consultancy position in Stockholm.
