Senior Backend Developer

Arbetsbeskrivning

Do you want to work with an app loved by kids all around the world? Toca Life World has millions (and millions) of users with more and more kids discovering the app every day. It’s a live platform for true open-ended play, an ever-expanding space where kids can tell any story they like.

As a Senior Backend Developer at the Central Tech team of Toca Boca, you’d oversee backend improvements, refine shared services, and promote TypeScript, enabling game developers and enhancing backend effectiveness.

What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Backend Developer at Central Tech, you will be leading a lot of the work to really make our backend stack a platform and with that, let the Game Team developers focus on building the best possible game.

You will be creating processes and tools and introducing best practices for things like verifying the quality of our services, vetting third party packages or handling security for backend services.

Together with the rest of the team, you will define and set up common levels of monitoring of backend services, and create tooling to let platform users (developers) get the telemetry they need.

You’ll support the team by ensuring sustainable development processes and workflows. You will support and coach the other developers in the company to really embrace TypeScript.

You’ll be leading work with our existing, shared services, making sure they are as efficient as possible, and as needed, migrate services built on other platforms to TypeScript/NestJS.

Additionally, nurturing a collaborative environment is crucial for our team and for Toca Boca in general. Together with your team, you will enjoy a weekly fika, sharing ideas and discussing challenges in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.
Is this you?

It's more about the person than the exact skills when we hire - if you don't tick all the boxes we welcome you to send an application anyway.

You are skilled in building and running NodeJS apps.

You have experience with TypeScript/NestJS.

You have knowledge about containerization (i.e. Docker), orchestration (ECS or Kubernetes) and IaC (Terraform and/or CloudFormation).

You are a good communicator and mentor for junior developers.

You believe in the power of play!

This is us!

Good to know!

This position is based in our Stockholm studio with a hybrid working model (part office, part working from home). We apply a 6-month probationary period. You’ll need to be located in Sweden as we are unable to support relocation. We’re an international company, with over 20 nationalities working here, and millions of users all over the world, and so you need to be fluent in English. Your application should therefore be in English. #LI-Hybrid
