Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

What’s in it for you?
At the Personal Driving Experience Centre within Product Creation at Volvo Cars we are responsible for that our attributes Driving Dynamics and Noise, Vibration & Harshness (NVH) are supported in the vehicle programmes, both in terms of customer and legal requirements.  Do you have experience within driving dynamics or NVH and want to create the world’s most inspired and confident driving experience? Then, one of the two roles as Senior CAE Engineer in the Trimmed Body Team, is the place for you to prosper.

We are now expanding our team with one person who will focus on structural dynamics and one who will focus on vehicle dynamics, together we are responsible for Driving Dynamics & NVH for the body structure, trimmed body systems and components. We work with testing and CAE of body structures, door and tailgate systems and their integration in the complete vehicle where the effect on car occupants is evaluated.

Here you will get the chance to be involved in all project phases, from Advanced Engineering to vehicle production start, and with field and quality issues, contributing with analysis and guidelines to improve our attributes in our cars. We can offer state-of-the-art equipment and test facilities and the opportunity to build an extensive network with other internal design areas, suppliers and our development centre in Shanghai.

What you’ll do
You will be a part of our team to strengthen the deliverables and development of the next generation of body structures. You will work cross-functionally with both DD and NVH but with focus towards optimization of the body structure as means to improve the attributes NVH and/or ride, handling and steering.

You will be performing CAE analyses of static and dynamic body stiffness and its influence on NVH and/or vehicle dynamics, propose improvements and drive necessary change together with involved design areas.

You will be participating in car program teams where you support in the requirement setting at systems level, communicate analysis results and guide the design work from an NVH and vehicle dynamics perspective. You will participate in the development of improved or new methods and model capability as well as in implementations of new software / hardware. Some of your responsibilities will be to lead assignments, of course dependent on your experience and knowledge, and participate in the development of improved or new methods and guidelines.

Your Skills
For both roles we see that you have a M.Sc. in mechanical engineering, technical acoustics, engineering physics or similar and that you are competent in structural dynamics. You will need knowledge of Nastran, Ansa, Matlab and MS Office, Hyperworks is meritorious. For Structural Dynamics also competence in engineering acoustics is required, meritorious would be knowledge in vehicle dynamics and Adams. For Vehicle Dynamics, maybe it goes without saying, but competence within vehicle dynamics is required and you will need solid knowledge in Adams or equivalent multi-body software.

Personal Qualities
You are known for your great analytical capability. You are customer focused, result oriented and possess good interpersonal skills as well as good communications skills. You are a team-player with a sense of accountability, also comfortable working independently.
