At Volvo Product Creation & Quality (P&Q) you will be a key contributor to the next generation of outstanding luxury BEV vehicles from Volvo Cars. Together with other engineers around the world, you and your team will create innovative human-centric car technology that makes life less complicated and more enjoyable for people. 

Electromagnetic design (EMD) and Mechanical system group 97740 is responsible for the electromagnetic design into different electric machine (EM) concepts such as PMSM, ASM and others, as well as system modelling, testing and validating the attribute fulfilment in EM test rigs and vehicles.

What you'll do
As a Senior engineer in the EMD team, you will be responsible to initiate and perform and analyse advanced electromagnetic design simulations in JMAG, Motor-CAD, ANSYS Maxwell or similar CAE tools, for EM concept development. Also, to create and optimize tools chain enablers for full correlation to the physics as well as verification from real data rig testing, as crucial input variables for our success. Preferably created in Matlab and Python environments.
Your deep know-how within EM development and EM physics will be an important contribution to the team’s progress in delivering future world class products. 
A close co-operation within the team and across Vehicle Propulsion is obvious, to always enable implementation of the most desirable Electric Axle Drives. 
Clear and regular documentation of CAE results and analyses with recommendations is always anticipated. Also, to follow and deliver to agreed timing plans.

Who you are
You are comfortable with co-operating, and to freely communicate, with people on different levels in the organization, able to be independent and you have a business oriented and flexible, time keeping mindset.  

Required qualifications
•    Documented skills in FE tools, e.g. JMAG, Motor-CAD, ANSYS Maxwell.
•    Documented skills in Matlab or Python and OptiSLang or ModeFRONTIER.
•    Previous OEM development within Electric Axle Drives.
•    University degree Ph.D./M.Sc. within Electrical Engineering or similar.
•    Deep system knowledge within Electric Driveline.
•    Fluent in English (written and spoken).
•    Driving license B.

•    Agile way of working perspective in a project world.

Meritorious 
Previous experience from academia and automotive industries, design, system functions and testing. Programming experience.
