Senior CAE Engineer for Modvion's wooden wind turbine towers

Arbetsbeskrivning

Let us tell you a little about us

Modvion develops the next generation of towers for wind turbines, a patented modular construction made of laminated wood. The technology enables wind turbines to reach higher altitudes and increased wind resources. Using laminated wood - nature's carbon fibre - can change the wind industry by enabling efficient logistics for tall wind turbine towers in previously inaccessible locations. All while drastically reducing the carbon footprint from wind power.

At Modvion you get to work with driven, positive, and creative people who inspire each other, united by our purpose of making a real difference for the climate. Come join us and let’s change the wind power industry together!

The role

In this role you will become a member of our product development team. You will work with strength analysis of our wooden wind turbine towers to ensure that they withstand all the extreme loads that they are exposed to during their service life.

The towers are designed based on load cases from the wind turbine OEMs. We develop tools and methods to apply the loads on our structure and its sub-components. Since we push the limits for how wood is used in mechanical engineering, we need to develop novel methods for the structural analysis which are outside the standard borders of design guidelines.

The product development team comprise expertise in engineering design, method development, mechanical testing, and CAE analysis. We often work in cross-functional team with our other tech departments focusing on Manufacturing and Installation. Our culture is characterised by a high level of self-management, strong team engagement to reach a common goal, and genuine care for each other.

Who are you

We are looking for someone with a dedication for methodical strength analysis. To be successful in the role role you have worked on a variety of products that are exposed to complex loads.

As a person you are a team player and thrives in a broad role where you work closely with your colleagues to find the best solution. As our design is driven mainly by strength properties, the team’s work has a great impact on design decisions. You perform your tasks in an accurate and structured way while addressing uncertainties and change with an open and flexible mind.

We also believe that you

- Have a background as MSc in Mechanical, Civil, Physics Engineering, or similar

- At least 5 years of professional experience in FE analysis

- Experience in fatigue assessment and theory

- A couple of years of experience in ANSYS

- Genuinely understand that a problem can be solved in many different ways.

- Know how to read and extract new information from scientific papers

- Strive to comprehend product requirements from many different perspectives, for example manufacturing and installation.

- Continuously make an effort to improve your understanding of the connection between theory and practice.

It is a merit if you have:

- Knowledge in Python or Matlab

- Experience from working with strength analysis of fiber composites

- Experience from validating numerical simulations with physical testing

What we offer

First of all we offer a meaningful, challenging, and fun everyday job.

We also offer you:

- Flexibility and freedom with your responsibilities, we trust our team to do a great job

- Planning your daily work to fit with your life

- Gym and table tennis at work

- Health and wellness allowance ‘Friskvårdsbidrag’

- Team activities and more!

The position is based at our office and HQ in Gothenburg with the opportunity to work from home when needed.

Does it sound like you?

If you are ready to take on a new challenge and explore the next generation of wooden wind turbine towers, then you have come to the right place. Come join us!
