What’s in it for you?
We are looking for a Senior Catia Design Engineer to join our Propulsion & Climate Labs at Volvo Cars Headquarters in Gothenburg. 

Propulsion & Climate Labs is Volvo Cars’ Centre for testing of propulsion systems, in complete vehicle as well as in component form. We operate and develop propulsion test facilities for vehicles, drivelines, electric motors, batteries, and transmissions, as well as aerodynamic and climatic testing. The Laboratory work includes hardware- and software preparation of testing, test execution and processing of measurement data. We also develop and build new test facilities.

To meet the future, we need to utilize state of the art tools and methods to test and verify next generation cars in an efficient and correct manner. Are you ready to take the lead on designing new dummy and bridging parts as well as electrical and mechanical components within Propulsion & Climate Labs? Then the role as Catia Design Engineer within the group Test preparation & Metrology is the place for you to prosper.

What you’ll do 
You will work as an Catia design engineer in the electrical and mechanical design test preparation team. Together with colleagues at the Lab, the Testing- and Test Object departments and suppliers you will set the foundation for attributes and detailed design of dummy and bridging parts as well as electrical and mechanical components in the test facilities. You will take an idea from first sketch to complete design.

You will have a close collaboration with engineers working with design of prototypes for testing and test object builds among others. You will also support lab colleagues in new testing technology & facilities and help them with solutions for future testing needs.

You will keep up to date with the latest trends and products concerning our current and future area of operation. You will promote smart Catia design methods as well as develop way of working. Also have a broad overview of which relevant products and suppliers are available on the market to help us achieve our goals.

In this role you will have the opportunity to build a broad network within R&D and the Laboratory.

You and your skills
We believe you have a Master’s or Batchelor’s degree in mechanical-/electrical-/mechatronics engineering or similar. You will need experience in design of high voltage and mechanical vehicle systems, deep knowledge of CAD-design and Catia 5, experience from two-dimensional construction design, and knowledge in agile way of working (SAFe). 

Knowledge about electrical motor/transmission development/manufacturing or other areas of automotive engineering, experience from an automotive OEM and knowledge of Volvo Cars engineering standards, and systems such as TCr, KDP and VIRA is meritorious.

On a personal level, you are comfortable making your own decisions and appreciate the freedom to take required actions on own initiative. You have an analytical- and solution-based mindset, that empower your ability to draw technical conclusions out of complex systems. You are cooperative by nature and bring out the best in others. You possess strong communications skills, a genuine interest in technology and are driven by constantly learn and improve, both yourself and your scope.
