Ready to shape tomorrow’s society together with us?
Volvo Autonomous Solutions (V.A.S.) is a newly created entity within the Volvo Group with the mission to offer transport and material handling solutions never seen before. Together we will work on autonomous solutions that will defy conventions and take us to the future. With entirely new business models and advanced technology, we will meet and exceed expectations from customers and contribute to a society that we want to live in.
This is us, your new colleagues in the Perception team at Volvo Autonomous Solutions
We are developing perception solutions for autonomous vehicles, a truly inspiring area. This means that we decide on the sensors and computational hardware that are used by our vehicles, and that we work with the software that powers them. We are a team of sensor specialists, software engineers and algorithm developers who are working closely together to extend the limits of technology.
This is how you could make an impact
We are in an active recruitment phase and are expanding our hardware and software teams. You will take ownership of our computational nodes.
In this role, you will be taking part in the development of products completely new to the market and thus get an opportunity to influence how the future autonomous society will behave. While the software and hardware teams are working closely together to maximize the performance of our solutions, your focus area will be specifically the compute. Sometimes you will have well-defined requirements, and sometimes vague, but the end goal will be the same: to deliver success for our customers through the clever application of technology.
Does this seem like a daunting mission? Do not worry, you will be part of a diverse team with extensive experience of component ownership in the autonomous vehicle domain. You will also cooperate closely with project managers, system architects, and with engineers from other V.A.S. technology areas to share extensive product knowledge.
Who are you?
We believe it is important that you have good leadership and communication skills, since this opportunity is about collaborative teamwork and leading our work forward. For us this means that you should be a good listener, fluent in English, and that it is easy for you to connect with other people.
We also believe a key quality for this role is a solution orientated and positive spirit with a desire to improve status quo. You are good at defining and balancing requirements, and it is preferable that you have several years of broad experience in system design for software and hardware architecture.
We also believe you have a background like the following:
Master's degree in Electrical engineering, Mechatronics, Physics, or other relevant areas
Significant experience of computational HW, within automotive, defense, etc.
Significant component ownership experience, on the OEM and/or Tier1 side
ISO 26262 and/or ISO 13849
Knowledge in Electrical & Electronics architecture and safety critical electronics hardware
In addition, experiences from development of autonomous vehicles or advanced driver assistance functions are beneficiary for this role.
