We are looking for a experienced control engineer to join us in our mission to contribute to a greener future. The role is a part of our excellent Electrode Development team based in Västerås. By joining us, you will be a key player in establishing Västerås Labs electrode equipment control system and contribute to building one of the first large scale European battery factories.
About the job
The control engineer will specify added functions and maintain control system of electrode manufacturing equipment which includes programmable logic controllers (PLC), computer network, control network and database. The individual will investigate existing equipment and modify program on-site. The individual is also expected to conduct multiple meetings to make alignment with stakeholders of process development, vendors, and stakeholders of existing infrastructures to create specification of equipment for large scale improvement. Note that individual is expected to utilize existing equipment hardware and software as much as possible to reduce downtime and duration of installation.
Individual will gain experience in Siemens PLC programming, system development, visual inspection, and large-scale manufacturing equipment system of Li-ion battery electrode. System development consists of defining specification, vendor management and schedule management.
About the team
Electrode team in Västerås Labs is expanding rapidly to fulfil demand of prototyping, process evaluation, and sample shipment from Västerås Labs. Production capacity of Labs is large enough to require process automation and quality control to keep on track of battery cells that Northvolt needs to evaluate. The control engineer will be contributed to produce batteries with new concept through development and improvement of electrode manufacturing equipment at Labs.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Establishing Västerås Lab electrode equipment control system
Connecting each equipment to computer / PLC network
Specify data base requirement for electrode equipment
Onsite trouble shooting of electrode manufacturing equipment
Improvement of electrode manufacturing equipment

Skills & Requirements
We believe that you have:
More than 3 years of working experience in manufacturing equipment software which includes PLC, computer network, PLC network and database.
More than 1 year of experience in ladder logic programming
Ability to read electrical drawings that are written in paper form, or equivalent experience.
Business level English written and oral skills
Work experience in specifying and launching manufacturing equipment of factory which operates 24/7.
Experience in multi-cultural environment.
Follow safety regulation given by safety team.
Ability to work on-site more than 25% of working hours.
Bonus points for:
Experience and interest in Siemens PLC
Business level in other languages (Swedish, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, German, French)
Experience in working with or at manufacturing equipment vendor
Experience in maintaining multiple network protocols which includes TCP/IP, UDP, PLC network
Experience in visual inspection integration to manufacturing equipment.
