Northvolt has an exciting job offer for a Senior Controls Engineer to join our passionate team in Stockholm.
In joining us you will play an important part from the very start in building one of the first large scale European battery factories. Northvolt will play an important role in the transformation to a carbon free society. In this role you will be a part of Northvolt Battery Systems that offers a range of building blocks, packs and racks as well as complete scalable systems to support our customer battery business needs.
As a Controls Engineering you will be working intimately with the industrialisation and manufacturing teams to design and implement a highly automated production process both in terms of production process control, material handling and robotics.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Defining and development of automation requirements specification and control system architecture
Design, implement and testing of PLC code delivering desired system functionality
Creating test protocols for automation solutions
Design and implement automation systems for advanced factories, consisting of conveyors, vision systems, AGV’s and specialized manufacturing equipment
Identify and interact with key automation solution suppliers, including assembly equipment, robotics, AGV’s, motion control suppliers.
You have experience in driving innovative and challenging automation projects with very high demand on accuracy and scale.
You have a deep understanding and hands-on experience of integrating very diverse, complex, equipment into higher automation layers developing some of the most advanced control systems in the world.
You work with the factory design and manufacturing engineering teams, translating their inputs into crisp specifications.

Skills & Requirements
Education/Experience
Degree in Electronics, Mechatronics, Software Engineering or similar
5+ years of experience within Industrial Automation in automated manufacturing environments such as: automotive, semiconductors, pharmaceutical, medical devices etc.
3+ years PLC/SCADA programming, especially Siemens TIA portal systems and Beckhoff
3+ years in OPC connectivity and MES interfaces
Experience developing robot cell in manufacturing, preferably with KUKA, FANUC or ABB robots
Experience in writing technical documentation (Requirement specifications, Functional design, UML, Test Cases, Test Records)
Specific Skills/Abilities
Excellent English written and oral skills
Knowledge of version control systems
Enterprise networking infrastructure knowledge (Routers, firewalls, sub-netting etc.)
Understanding of different layers of Automation Pyramid
Experience with OPC UA and PackML is an advantage
Experience with offline robot programming tools like RoboDK is an advantage
ABB 800xA DCS programming is an advantage
