Profile: Senior Cost Engineer – Automotive Software Development


Working as an Automotive Software Development Cost Engineer, you will be highly valued in supporting the cost optimization of supplier quoted SW development.


You must be technically analytical and have a good logical understanding of the overall financial constraints in terms of supplier related engineering to meet our technical requirements.


You will use your knowledge and expertise to calculate the cost for Software development, for new truck projects. You will perform cost target settings and activity-based cost breakdowns on software based on technical regulations / functional descriptions.


You must be passionate about cost efficient engineering and contribute to further improve the cost models in collaboration with engineering.


Responsibilities:
Software Cost engineer is to calculate should cost based on an activity-based bottom-up model of the Software development process
Understanding of the Software structure for the main functionalities / Sub functionalities or detailed Software function to calculate key complexity cost drivers
Understanding of Software pricing models
Understanding of the Software for components and systems within the powertrain, chassis, safety and control, Electronic systems, Comfort and control, Infotainment, driver assistance and automated driving is considered as an additional competency
Understanding of Software related simulations and testing technically and financially
The Software Cost engineer is responsible to translate the technical requirements of projects (products, software, or services) into a cost calculation
Closely interact with the hardware team, software team, internal stakeholders and cross-functional peers to build up the development cost

Requirements:
A degree in Electronics engineering sciences or a comparable degree, with at least 5 years of professional experience in a comparable employment (e.g. development, project management)
Software commercial project management skills with a sound knowledge of the processes and how software is specified and described
Experience of software project delivery in an agile environment
Software development background preferably in automotive but with a strong interest in estimating
Willingness to grow and share. Your own knowledge is always based on the latest state-of-the-art standards
Strong analytical skills, solution-oriented, careful and independent operation
Service willingness, ability to work in a team and communicate and collaborate in an international environment including a willingness to travel
