We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.
What’s in it for you?
As one of our Trade & Customs Senior Advisors you will become a main player for Trade & Customs in the definition of new vehicles and new vehicle technology.
You will be part of the Global Customs & Export controls team and embedded into our car and technology programs, our commercial teams and/or our procurement and will be involved in defining the right suppliers ensuring the lowest cost to market, the right characteristics of new products ensuring the lowest possible duty rate, the most optimal bill of process carried out in the most optimal place to ensure free trade agreements all with the aim of bringing the most value into the vehicle with the most optimal price and duty costs.
Your work will drive the profitability of Volvo Cars through driving Customs & Trade as the strategic question it deservedly is.
What you’ll do.
You will be a main voice of Customs & Trade within Volvo Cars and as such it will be up to you to network with the relevant people and functions to create understanding of possibilities and drive tariff engineering, customs valuation and origin engineering of vehicles, components and service spare parts. You will be responsible for identifying ideas, methods and opportunities arising from the business plans and programs pursued within the new vehicle programs, R&D, Industrial system, and commercial transformation and drive these ideas to fruition. In other words, your job will be to know the business and generate the ideas where Customs can contribute positively to the business case or identify the actions that can lift customs roadblocks for ideas in the business and identify savings opportunities. Once identified you will be responsible for delivering the necessary ideas through project management making use of existing internal resources or bought capacity.
Do you fit the profile?
You have several years of experience in international Trade advisory, either as a consultant or in-house where you have a track record of identifying value propositions and turning them into real value. Trade & Customs is your skill and your passion is business and making Customs & Trade an integral part of business decisions. You want to work in an environment where decisions are made quickly and the pace and expectations are high. You’re in a place in your career and development where you are comfortable stepping up and being the expert both by your peers and by other functions in the company. You deliver with pride and you listen with the humbleness of not knowing everything and are ready to sell our business of customs again and again. You engage with people on their level of understanding and recognize their passion for what they do, and you engage in activities where it is needed with the knowledge that you have something to bring. You are the person who listens at least as much as you talk. When you do talk, you talk with intent to learn or to give meaning and to raise the level of conversation.
You follow through on your ideas and your commitments. People around you see you as trustworthy, dependable and a collaborator. You balance the interests of everyone, and you are proactive in shaping expectations from stakeholders as well as communicate your expectations clearly.
You keep abreast with what is happening around you both in your job and in the wider world and you work to anticipate the implications of those developments, business ideas or changes to legislation and you create the strategy to address that future. You map the steps needed to achieve those strategies keeping it simple instead of rushing into unplanned activities.
You have a clear focus on delivering your value. You never give up but you know when to stop and focus on something more valuable.
