We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join us, one of Sweden’s largest Analytics and Data Platforms organizations, where you have a key role in developing and designing Data Platforms to secure our Analytics capabilities.

Microsoft Power BI Pro is available to all office users within H&M worldwide as part of Office 365. We use Power BI Premium Capacity as part of our Power BI platform. The usage of Power BI is rapidly spreading in our business user community, so we need you who have acquired Power BI platform specialist skills on top of your Senior Data Engineer competence and experience.

Our Big Data Platforms reside in Azure with Azure Analysis Services as the main source of delivering trusted data. We quickly move towards becoming a truly data driven organization. A lot of the focus going forward include how to efficiently combine multiple data sources to support extended business insights. The ease of use and general availability of Power BI at H&M gives us the perfect vehicle for providing true Self-Service BI (SSBI) capabilities to our business user community.

About the position
As a Senior Data Engineer, you will take ownership of the quality, architecture and related processes of our data, specifically targeting the choice when to use the Azure Analysis Services (PaaS) - or the Power BI Premium Imported (SaaS)- models. You will build a strong understanding of how our business processes create the data, how it is cultivated and used and how it all fits together. You will support several Product Teams with knowledge of the contents, timeliness and quality of our data. Furthermore, you will help product teams with finding data, providing ad hoc extracts of it and collaborate with Data Engineers to onboard the data correctly. You will keep up with changes in underlying systems and the impact and effect it has on our data.

You will have the possibility to join the Microsoft Power BI Enterprise Voice customer advisory program as one of our representatives. This program gives us opportunities to influence the Power BI roadmap, including Microsoft’s commitment to make Power BI Premium a superset of Azure Analysis Services.

Your skills and responsibilities
We specifically look for you who have experience from most of the below areas:
Power BI admin - together with our Microsoft O365 tenant administrators you will assist in how to optimize the settings for Power BI
Power BI Premium Capacity admin - take responsibility for existing Premium Capacity and setup guidelines and recommendations for an overall Premium capacity strategy
Power BI Application Health Monitoring including - setup processes for proactive monitoring of Power BI solution health including both Premium and Shared Capacity
Power BI Enterprise Deployment - setup guidelines and recommendations for a deployment strategy implementing centralized datasets for corporate reporting
Microsoft Azure Analysis Services- vs. the Power BI Premium Imported- model - Setup guidelines and recommendations for how to mix PaaS and SaaS in a big organization
Self-service data prep for big data in Power BI including - Setup guidelines and recommendations for when & how to use Self Service data prep Power BI Data Flows complementing enterprise ETL pipelines
Power BI Applications & Users including - Set up guidelines and recommendations for publishing Power BI applications to users including user access, data security and delivery options (BI Portals)
Power BI Advanced Capabilities including - Set up guidelines and recommendations for implementing advanced Power BI capabilities including integrating AI/Models, Automation & Writebacks
Performance Optimizations in Big Data Landscape including - Setup guidelines and recommendations for performance optimization of VertiPaq storage structures for data models in Power BI and Analysis Services Tabular

You will also Support & Train Development teams on Power BI recommendations and best practises.
We expect you to have at least 5 years’ experience of development of data warehouses and business intelligence solutions, preferably in the Microsoft-suite or Data Warehouse appliances.
We believe you to have Excellent communication skills in English. Communication skills in Swedish is a plus.
