WHO YOU ARE
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who can be a thought leader and a hands-on expert in developing existing and new digital products related to Content and Findability on IKEA.com, the IKEA App, and stores.
Our diverse team within Data & Analytics is growing even more and we would love to talk with you, if you recognize yourself in some of the following:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience as Data Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer or Software Developer (or a combination of these)
Extensive knowledge of programming languages (Python, Go, Java or Scala), and comfortable developing APIs using modern web frameworks
Good grasp of technologies used in conjunction with big data projects (for example Spark, Kafka, Beam)
Comfortable collaborating with the rest of the team on developing and deploying pipelines for large-scale machine learning models
Ideally, you are familiar with technologies used for orchestrating the data workflows in machine learning projects (for example Airflow, Kubeflow, dbt)
You enjoy collaborative software engineering practices (Agile, DevOps), in which solutions evolve through the effort of self-organising cross-functional teams
Excited about IKEA’s core values and vision of creating a better everyday life for the many people
A team player who takes ownership, builds cross-functional relationships with senior peers and loves sharing knowledge with more junior team members
A curious world class problem solver who wants to keep learning!

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
This role will find a home in our Customer Domain meaning that majority of the work will focus on making the IKEA experience better for our customers using ikea.com or the IKEA App. As a Data Engineer you will work closely with Data Scientists and Data Analysts to drive the development of data products within the customer domain.
What You'll Do Every Day
Create and maintain data pipeline architecture, data stores.
Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimising data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, etc.
Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and big data technologies on GCP
Support analytics tools that utilise the data pipeline to provide actionable insights into customer acquisition, operational efficiency and other key business performance metrics.
Work with stakeholders to assist with data-related technical issues and support their data infrastructure needs.
Work with data and analytics experts to strive for greater functionality in our data systems.

OUR TEAM WITHIN IKEA
You will work in Data & Analytics together with other Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers, Data Stewards and Data Architects. Together you will be joining cross-functional teams consisting of colleagues from Technology, Product, Design, that designs, implements and deploys products that help to solve these kinds of problems. Your job will a mix of understanding business needs, designing data solutions – and of course writing code.
