What we offer
Our mission is to make people’s lives easier, safer and better and also to offer solutions to move in a personal, sustainable and safe way. This requires collection and processing of a lot of data about our cars and customers, and as a human-centric company we are truly committed to handling personal data in a legal, ethical and responsible way.
As Volvo Cars moves forward on this exciting transformational journey, we are looking to grow our global team of Data Protection Advisors to ensure that data protection continues to be the forefront of everything we do.

You will be a part of the Global Compliance & Ethics team located at the Headquarters in Göteborg, Sweden. You will be working in close cooperation with your immediate manager, Global Head of Data Protection Operations and also with both the Data Protection Officer and the Head of Data Protection Compliance, who also are based in Göteborg.
In this role you will work in a truly innovative, dynamic, and international environment. As a valued partner to the business, you will have the opportunity to work alongside key senior stakeholders, influencing the strategic direction of many new business initiatives and contribute to Volvo Cars’ transformation.
Your main responsibilities will be to:
Act as a trusted advisor for data protection matters, aligning with key business stakeholders to develop strategic approaches to data protection compliance
Be a day-to-day contact for data protection queries and issues from the business, providing subject matter expert guidance and direction to ensure that personal data is collected and used legally, ethically, and responsibly
Support the due diligence risk review of new or changing technology, vendors and business processes, embedding Privacy by Design principles and performing Data Protection Impact Assessments, as needed.
Negotiate and draft data protection terms for third party contracts, including international data transfer mechanisms.
Who you are
You are an engaged and forward-thinking data protection professional, with at least 5 years of experience in providing data protection advice and direction across multiple global data protection frameworks.
To succeed in this role we believe that you are a lawyer or have a law degree, with relevant professional qualifications such as ECPC-B DPO, CIPP or similar, and excel in finding pragmatic solutions to realise business goals while mitigating compliance risks.
Furthermore, you are a team player and you have first class communication and interpersonal skills (both orally and in writing) and you are able to present complex facts, information and explanations, tailoring your approach to different audiences.
We highly value your ability to translate our data protection policies into actions that deliver business value and drive change. Defining and solving complex problems that require careful analysis and good judgement is something you excel at and thrive on.
Join us and be part of this exciting and ambitious journey into the future!
