Who we are
Mentimeter is a product-first, rapidly-growing, inclusive and profitable startup founded by engineers in 2014. Back then, we felt that boring and inefficient meetings had to go, so we decided to build a platform to change this. Six years later, we are listed as the fastest growing Swedish startup with over 200 million end-users and customers from over 150 countries; the journey has just begun.
The role
One of the reasons we are so successful in growing smartly is our continuous improvement on being data-driven in Product development, Marketing and Sales. To continue to help our teams understand our users even more effectively, we are expanding our Data Analytics team with a Senior Data Scientist, working primarily with Product.
In this role you will work hands-on with multiple teams and stakeholders to enable and promote more accurate, data-driven decisions and to provide clarity on how each team is contributing within Product. Together with us you will study user behaviour, evaluate strategic initiatives and experiment with new features. Specifically, you will work closely with our Product Insights Director, Product Area Leads and PM's to understand our users, our product, our paying customers through projects by defining actionable metrics such as presenter “levels”, churn and retention.
We work in small, independent, self-organizing teams. With a large interest across the whole organisation to become more data-driven, value someone who is in love with solving problems, not with specific solutions or methods, and who is incredibly collaborative. Moreover, we are looking for someone who has a willingness to engage and collaborate on best practices for data use within the company.
What you’ll do
Work closely with the Product team who are passionate about Mentimeter’s user experience
Perform analyses to extract actionable insights on user behaviour that will help drive business decisions
Support in structuring KPI frameworks and measurable objectives that help guide and measure the performance of Mentimeter’s strategy
Foster data-driven decision making across the organisation, from A/B testing guidelines to leading embedded Product Data Scientists to help optimise good data practices within their teams
Be an important part of a growing analytics team to define standards and good practices
Skills & Requirements
Note that the following are qualities we believe you need to be able to enjoy and work effectively in what you’ll do and is by no means an exhaustive list. So please don’t see them as boxes to tick off, but rather a guide on how much it would help with your fit to the role.
Preferred skills/mindset:
Clear and effective communication skills
A strong interest and curiosity in how data can be used to explain users and behaviors
Analytical mindset and a hands-on approach to challenges
Be results driven, open, flexible and always have focus on the business value for Mentimeter
Ability and motivation to learn new technologies and methodologies
Preferred experience:
Several years experience in a similar Data Scientist role and ideally, a degree in a quantitative discipline
Building positive relationships with colleagues and stakeholders and have the ability to explain complex topics in simple terms
Leading data projects (e.g. data mining, clustering, segmentation) and following up on actionable business recommendations based on results from them
Have used SQL on a regular basis
Familiarity with software development practices such as version control and CI/CD
The following is “bonus experience”, i.e. great to talk about if you happen to have interest in it too! You are capable of tackling vague problems, thrive when working in a team which has autonomy in their day-to-day decisions and have experience with working with SAAS metrics.

We at Mentimeter believe in giving everyone a voice - regardless of who you are. So we build a platform that does just that. Our platform is not only our product but also our organization. A platform where people feel safe, where differences are embraced, a place where you can have fun. We strongly encourage applicants who are people of color, LGBTQ, women, people with disabilities, and/or formerly incarcerated people, and a college degree is not strictly required. In order to give everyone a voice, we need to be as diverse as our users.
