To meet a future, we must find a way to effectively analyze and evaluate our cars’ energy efficiency and the company’s sustainability. Volvo Cars has decided to be one of the leaders within the field of sustainability. To approach this, we need to develop methods and tools, and analyze data to make quick adjustments.

Are you willing to support development teams in understanding customer behavior, functional performance, investigating new mobility scenarios and alike? Are you accustomed to data handling, analyzing data and drawing valid conclusions? Then the role as Data Scientist in our group Vehicle Energy Efficiency is the place for you to prosper! You will belong to the department of Sustainability Centre and be part of a highly focused strategic and competent agile scrum team, working strategically within the environmental domain, but also operationally in our car programs.

What You’ll Do 
You will take part in the data-driven transformation at Volvo Cars. You will analyze data of our vehicles in real-life driving or in the test rig, develop novel methods and tools to evaluate and optimize vehicle energy efficiency. Your analysis will also contribute to strategic decision-making in the attribute for future concepts and mobility. The insights from the analysis will be communicated to key strategic stakeholders inside and outside of the Sustainability Center and will be the basis for strategic decision-making. 

You and Your Skills
We see that you have at least a Master of Science in Data Science, Computer Science, Data Engineering, Systems Control and Mechatronics, Physics or similar. You are proficient in both programming and data analytics and comfortable using Python and software development tool kits. You have experience with analyzing, structuring, implementing, and storing large data sets, to which you have applied statistical and machine-learning techniques. Hands-on experience with feature engineering, model deployment and time-series analysis are highly valued.  

Prior documented working experience within the automotive domain and with interest or knowledge of future concepts of mobility is beneficial. 

You are driven, creative and curious, willing to embrace challenges and can operate in a continuously changing environment. You enjoy collaboration, but you are also able to take initiatives on your own. You see the general picture and logical patterns, but you are also able to go into a detailed analysis of subjects.
