Volvo Cars and the rest of the automotive industry is facing a big and exciting challenge regarding the focus shift from conventional vehicles and private owning, to electrification, digitalization, automation and mobility-as-a-service. To meet a future, we must find a way to effectively analyse and evaluate our cars’ energy efficiency and the company’s sustainability. Volvo Cars has decided to be one of the leaders within the field of sustainability. To approach this, we need to develop methods and tools, and analyse data to make quick adjustments.
Are you used to handle big amount of data and determined to drive for a sustainable future? Then the role as Data Scientist in our Vehicle Energy Efficiency Group is the place for you to prosper. You will belong to the department Sustainability Centre and be part of a highly focused strategic and competent agile scrum team, contributing to strategical environmental work within the company.
What you’ll do
You will analyze data of our vehicles in real life driving or in the test rig, and support our strategical team with development of methods and tools to evaluate and optimize vehicle energy efficiency. The team consists of 6 people and belongs to the larger group Vehicle Energy Efficiency consisting of approximately 40 engaged engineers. Part of your time will be spent on communicating our results to Volvo Cars’ Strategical teams and internally at Sustainability Centre.
You and Your Skills
We see that you have at least a Master of Science in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics or similar. You are proficient in programming using Python, Matlab, Java, C++ or similar. You have excellent skills in analyzing, structuring, implementing and storing large data sets. You also have knowledge in statistics, optimization and algorithms.
Prior documented working experience with data science and data analysis is considered beneficial, as well as working experience within the automotive industry.
You are highly motivated, creative and curious, with a strong analytical, scientific and strategic mind-set. You enjoy collaboration, but are able to take initiatives on your own, you see the overall picture and logical patterns, but are also able to go into a detailed analysis of things.
