Product & Market Intelligence is the unique provider of Insight, Foresight and Analytics and we guide global strategic- and business decisions. We have three expert areas and you will lead the Business Analytics Team. We belong to the Strategy & Business Ownership function within Product Creation, but our team works across the Volvo Cars Group organization. 

We find ways to uncover business possibilities, to create innovation and to make intelligent business decisions thru advanced analytics.

What you will do
We are looking for a Senior Data Scientist within Business Analytics who will lead and inspire a small senior team of Data Scientists in a business and strategic context and secure the relevant assignments and the right prerequisites to get strong results. You and your team will work close together and apply advanced analytics techniques, multiple data sources, building of predictive models to discover actionable insights and innovations. As a part of the Market Intelligence leadership team, you will have an important role to consult on the capabilities of analytics and data science. You will create a substantial network with collaboration points across the company, get the possibility to work in a diverse and future oriented team and not the least, the ability to share your outcome and recommendations also with executive decision makers. 

Your responsibilities
Part of your scope will be to secure a motivated team which can provide decision support to businesspeople by using different advanced analytics techniques, multiple data sources, building of predictive models to discover actionable insights. You will uncover trends, patterns, create various metrics, reports and dashboards. You will effectively translate analytical findings into the language of decision makers. Further, you will mentor colleagues with less data science and analytics experience to understand opportunities. In this role, you will actively support our goal to become more automatized and effective with data management, analysis and sharing.

Qualifications:
•    M Sc in applied mathematics and, statistics or related area, or similar competence 
•    Excellent leadership skills and strong business acumen
•    Intellectual curiosity and enthusiasm to apply data to discover and solve business challenges
•    Several years of analytics experience, statistical knowledge and experience solving business questions
•    Good understanding of programming
•    Ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner with both technical and non-technical customers

Competence and skills are important, but personality is key
We are looking for someone who is curious and has a strong drive for innovation. You have great presentation and communication skills and you also have the ability to convince others by storytelling. You are creative and see every problem from different angles to provide the best solution, by help of a combination of mathematical rigor and innovative algorithm design. Moreover, you have common sense and go for the right level of granularity in every case and focus on the important conditions. To be successful in this role you need strong networking skills and ambition and you navigate easily in a complex environment with many stakeholders.
