The Exterior department has the global responsibility for the development of Exterior parts for the whole range of products within Volvo Cars and the development is conducted in close cooperation with our suppliers. The section Exterior Trim we have created a highly flexible design team currently consisting of 20 design engineers, both men and women, who are responsible for the design of the whole product range for the section. This means that the number of components and different processes and materials have a wide span that gives good opportunities for personal development. Our long-term goal is that all parts should be developed in-house. This means that a lot of efforts are spent on building experience and working development such as: Templates, 3DPMi, Mold flow analysis, CAE simulations, and lessons learned etc. in our effort to continuously improve and be more efficient.

For this position as Senior Design Engineer you will belong to the group Functional Black Trim Floor responsible for the development of Under Body Panels, Engine Under shield, Heatshields and wheel arch liners to name a few. You will develop and propose design solutions that best fulfil all requirements different systems and components. In this role you will be in contact and communication with international suppliers as well as internal stakeholders and be a part of complete car projects.

Main responsibilities

* Develop technical solutions from idea to agreed solution
* Develop technical solution that fulfils targets within Time, Technique and Cost frames
* Develop 3D models for virtual verification and manufacturing of proto tools/part for physical verification
* Develop 3D-modells and 3DPMI for manufacturing of production parts
* Participate in test- and verification planning
* Contribute to secure geometry and final demands

Required qualifications

* B.Sc Engineering, Mechanical or similar
* Experience as Design Engineer with the automotive industry
* Good knowledge in designing plastic and metal
* Good knowledge in Catia V5
* Fluent in English, written and spoken
* Driver's license B
* Preferred knowledge in Template development
* Knowledge of stable modelling and CAD Advance is meritorious
