Scania is now undergoing a transformation from being a supplier of trucks, buses and engines to a supplier of complete and sustainable transport solutions.

Customized solutions for trucks is an important and growing area where Scania aims to fulfil specific customer demands and to enter new segments and markets.

The section RSM is responsible for the development of customized trucks in areas from alternative fuels and electrification to specialized applications such as mining, heavy haulage and fire trucks. Everything we do starts with a direct customer request.

About the group
Our group, RSMU, deliver customized solutions for the urban and long haulage segments. The adaptations that we do are sprung out of direct customer requests. Our main assets in fulfilling customer demands are Scania´s modular system and the creative minds of our employees. Our group is diverse when it comes to background, origin and personality.

Every customization has its own challenges. Since we are working with customizations all over the vehicle we are often depending on each other’s support and knowledge in different areas. We are proud to do our best in helping our colleagues. Here you always have someone to ask!

Our most experienced design engineer will soon take on new challenges and therefore we are looking for an experienced designer to join our team.

Your assignment
As a senior designer you will have an important role in developing the team when it comes to product knowledge and ways of working to secure quality and efficiency. We expect you to be a role model for your less experienced colleagues.

A main focus will be to support your colleagues in their daily challenges. This span from helping a colleague who is solving a complex production deviation to supporting the team by taking on sharp deliveries for us to succeed with our common deliveries. The wide product scope and high pace makes it a challenge to always find the best way forward.

Maintaining and improving our existing adaptations and the documentation of them is an important part of our work. Here you as a senior designer has an important role as the group representative in the department maintenance group. This means that you will participate in the maintenance meetings to, with your vast experience, judge if and how the coming A-order introductions will affect our current adaptations, suggest actions to secure our adaptation and bring tasks and information back to RSMU.

There is a spread in scope and complexity of the tasks we handle and this creates great possibilities for you to further develop your competence. There are a lot of complex requests to handle that will trigger and challenge your creativity and experience. Cooperation with marketing, distributors and production is vital. 

Your Profile
You are an experienced (design) engineer who has been working for Scania as employee or consultant for preferably +10 years. You have built up a broad product knowledge of our truck and enjoy working with both the technical details and the bigger picture. You also have great experience in Scania´s product structure and how to use conditions in the best way. With the experience you have, a wide network within the company will help you succeed in this position.

You enjoy to and are good at coaching and training your colleagues in ways of working and product knowledge. You have the ability to share experiences and information with your colleagues in a generous and pedagogical way, both in one-to-one situations and by presentations for larger groups.
