About this opportunity:
Do you want to deep-dive into the latest tech, explore the capabilities of 5G phones & other connected devices? Then you are probably interested in joining our Reverse Engineering team within the IPR & Licensing organization!
In the Networked Society, there is an ever-increasing number of wireless devices, reaching far beyond phones, tablets and laptops. Anything that benefits from being connected, will be connected.
With a long history in the wireless business, Ericsson has a large number of patents, and the number of devices gaining advantage from Ericsson’s Intellectual Property is ever increasing. To license our technology, we need to show it’s used in the devices, and that’s where the Reverse Engineering team plays an important role.
Reverse Engineering is a small team is committed to support the commercialization and creation of the industry’s strongest and most valuable patent portfolio. It provides technical insight and advice to the IPR&L organization. The team runs its own lab where different sophisticated analyses of the latest wireless devices are made, with the purpose of finding evidence of patent infringements.
We are now strengthening the team with a senior device analyst. The person preferably has a proven background from active work in a lab for electronic product development or similar, as well as knowledge of how wireless devices work and how to test them.
What you will do:
• Teardowns and device preparation for measurements and/or documentation
• Create test setups and methods to perform hands-on measurements involving different devices and measurement equipment, for instance:
- Base station simulators and base stations
- Oscilloscopes and logic analysers
- RF testing equipment
- Power analysers
• Cooperate with internal experts as well as external suppliers of reverse engineering
• Black box testing
• Documenting and analysing test results
• Creative problem solving
The skills you bring:
• MSc in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, or equivalent education
• Long experience from hands-on work and testing on electronic devices in a product development lab environment
• Knowledge and experience from electronic test instrument usage, scripting, and handling
• Broad knowledge from working with mobile phone R&D
• Knowledge of the cellular protocol stack (4G LTE & 5G NR)
• Expertise within testing area is a plus
• Able to work individually as well as together with the team
• Basic understanding of IPR or genuine interest of the IPR field
