As the Senior Director for ERM EMS your responsibilities will include:
Continue to mature Nasdaq’s Enterprise Risk Management framework for the Nordic Exchanges including programs such as Risk and Control Self Assessments, Incident Reporting, Key Risk Indicators, and Issue & Action Tracking.
Lead Risk Assessments including Risk and Control Self Assessments (RCSA), Top Risk Assessments, Project Risk Assessments, and New Product Assessments ensure effective challenges of risk assessments and management of key risks. Ensure consistency of approach.
Ensure appropriate risk governance including compliance with Board-approved risk policies (aligned with Nasdaq’s policies), risk appetite statements, and risk committee/forums.
Facilitate and maintain a clearly articulated Risk Appetite for the Exchanges, as appropriate, and work with the management and the businesses to identify risk tolerances within which to operate.
Provide objective assurance and advisory to management, including identifying significant risks and risk response strategies and actions. Analyze risks and financial implications and work with management to ensure that the level of risk remains within an acceptable level.
Provide and improve risk reporting for respective Exchanges boards and management.
Ensure compliance with Nasdaq’s Business Continuity and Crisis Management Policy, including assisting in developing Business Continuity Plans and facilitating Crisis Management exercises.
Lead ERM initiatives across the EMS business and supporting areas including implementing internal control frameworks (e.g., DORA & AML); partnering with business & assurance functions to document process and controls and recommend process or service improvements.
Serve as a risk management subject matter authority for the region. Supervise industry trends and changes in the regulatory environment.
Build key relationships with business unit and support function management and serve as a customer concern point for risk issues and support for strategy formulation.
Work with local Legal and Regulatory teams, understand and communicate expectations of regional supervisors as it relates to risk management and risk governance.
Work closely with business unit and support functions to implement standard methodology risk management framework and risk governance that meet the needs of the businesses and expectations of the regional supervisors.
Communicate risk objectives, framework, and policies to internal and external audiences as appropriate.
Implement risk management training and promote a proactive risk culture. Provide expertise and mentorship on risk management concepts.
Effectively connect with the broader global risk team and partner with peers to ensure consistency of approach and awareness of issues, challenges, and opportunities; achieving shared goals and objectives and providing value to the organization.
Proactively engage Internal Audit, SOX, Compliance, Information Security, Supplier Risk Management, Business Continuity, and other assurance functions to support a coordinated approach to risk management. Share knowledge and expertise to achieve shared goals.
As a manager, lead all aspects of functional team members. Main duties include employee training, delegating tasks, and accomplishing staff results by presenting job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results
Skills, Requirements, and Proficiencies
At least 12 years of experience in risk management, compliance, or audit in the financial services industry, preferably in capital markets or financial technology
4+ years of experience in effective people management is a plus
Familiarity with internal control frameworks such as BMR, IOSCO, SOX, AFC, and DORA
Regarded as a technical expert in risk management and financial services and can serve as a critical issue point for senior leadership for risk matters and to support risk-informed decision-making.
Preferred expertise in enterprise risk and operational risk management with familiarity with financial risk management. Experience in implementing and supporting a coordinated risk management framework in a complex organization.
Understands the regulatory environment and regulatory requirements and can anticipate potential issues. Ability to cultivate relationships with regional regulators.
Innovative, strategic problem-solver who can challenge the status quo through willingness and without judgment.
Ability to deliver as an individual contributor and work within a distributed team environment.
Experience in leading multi-disciplinary projects with complexity, driving timely and effective project execution, and meeting project objectives.
Ability to lead others to tackle complex problems; facilitate working groups to solve issues, mitigate risks, develop solutions; evaluate operational or technological measures to assess the risk and efficiency of programs, processes, and/or initiatives.
Strong communication, facilitation, and influencing skills; able to articulate and communicate sophisticated ideas and concepts in a clear, concise, and structured manner while anticipating questions/objectives.
