Senior Director, Global Gene Therapy Business IDM Region

ROLE SUMMARY
The focus of the Rare Diseases (“RD”) group, is to transform thousands of patients and families lives by working together collaboratively to create innovative programs that serve the patient community. This RD category has been developed to maximize the existing in-line portfolio, while positioning Pfizer as a rare disease category leader with an exciting and promising pipeline, including a gene therapy manufacturing and technology platform plus an expanding portfolio of clinical and preclinical stage gene therapy product candidates.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
The Senior Director, Global Gene Therapy Business IDM Region will lead efforts to develop and drive commercial strategies across the IDM region for the emerging gene therapy business platform to ensure the development of innovative, differentiated gene therapy products that meet unmet needs in Rare Diseases. This will be achieved through the below key accountabilities:

Advance the Pfizer Rare Disease Pipeline
Advance Category Leadership Strategy for Gene Therapy (“GTx”)
Monitor the competitive environment, deliver strategy updates, prioritize pipeline programs, and identify key business development targets
Generate new gene therapy product concepts and target product profiles as needed


Build and Leverage Pfizer Rare Disease Capabilities
Build and lead Pfizer’s IDM Region Gene Therapy Business Platform capabilities and pipeline commercial readiness
Proactively manage and drive the efforts of the RD IDM Region GTx Leadership Team to continually evolve the prioritization, timing and action plans
Proactively manage and drive the RD IDM Region GTx Leadership Team, a broad, cross-Pfizer, cross-functional group of key leaders
Deliver internal GTx communications via a variety of forums
Proactively lead and manage the assessment of potential alternative commercial models
Support key existing IDM Region GTx business partnerships and strategic alliances
Facilitate IDM Region cross collaboration on key GTx external and internal projects and lead relevant local in country project execution as appropriate


External communication
In collaboration with our Global and IDM Region Communications and Media Relations teams, lead and manage the development of external IDM Region specific communications materials and messages
Together with IDM Region Corporate Affairs teams execute external communications campaign
Develop strong leadership presence at IDM Region external gene therapy conferences and meetings

Ensure ethics, integrity, and fairness in our business activities


QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
BS/BA degree required, life science discipline highly preferred
MBA and/or PhD preferred
15+ years in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry in commercial, business development and/or strategy leadership roles required. Experience in in-line marketing and new product planning with global and/or US biotechnology and/or large pharmaceutical companies, including experience with leading companies required
5+ years leading new business strategy and development activities required
Demonstrated commercial acumen in assessing and advancing into development and/or commercialization novel, cutting edge modalities like gene therapy, gene editing, and/or gene modified cellular therapies is highly preferred
Strong Global and US experience preferred in all commercial areas
Outstanding relationship-building and partnering skills and the ability to lead multidisciplinary teams to drive commercial input on development programs
As a key strategic link between scientists and business leaders, must have a strong understanding of drug development as well as highly effective analytical, extrapolative thinking and influencing skills
Deep understanding of the biopharmaceutical business and development space
Strong understanding of the future direction of market access trends worldwide
Position requires domestic and international travel up to 40% of time
