The UNHCR Representation for Northern Europe based in Stockholm is looking for a dynamic, flexible and proactive person to take up the position as Senior Durable Solutions Associate. In the context of UNHCR's mandate to provide international protection and, together with Governments, seek durable solutions for refugees, the Office is engaged in advocating for and supporting the development of quality asylum and integration laws, policies, and practices in the five Nordic countries: Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, Sweden, and in the three Baltic Countries: Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania, covered by the Office.
The role of the Durable Solution Associate is to support the implementation of UNHCR´s work in the area of solutions with focus on measures to further the socio-economic integration of refugees into host societies and support on-going resettlement and complementary pathways programmes. The work involves undertaking research and providing policy and technical advice, guidance and training on local integration, resettlement and complementary pathways. This work is carried out under the supervision of the Integration Officer and in close partnership with staff and partners.
UNHCR's role and added value in the area of integration and legal pathways in Northern Europe is mainly as a convener and facilitator of exchanges. The focus is on expanding the scope of activities from traditional/existing integration areas to bringing inclusion, social cohesion and community-based approaches and stronger refugee involvement into improved policy implementation within municipalities, in communities and at workplaces.
The Senior Durable Solutions Associate will, together with UNHCR country focal points and senior management, support the establishment of new partnerships and contribute to facilitating discussions on durable solutions with refugees, local authorities, civil society, government, private sector and NGOs to further welcoming and inclusive societies and access to resettlement and complementary pathways.
Fostering initiatives designed to strengthen the involvement of refugees and their hosts communities in the design and implementation of solutions strategies is a critical element of the work.
The job requires direct contact with refugees, municipalities and civil society partners involved in assessing needs and evaluating responses while considering aspects of age, gender and diversity.
UNHCR offers work in an interesting international office environment with a wide variety of tasks conducted both independently and together with other members of the Office team.
The position is in the Local Staff category at the G-7 level.
Description of main areas of responsibility:
.Monitor developments and gather, analyse and disseminate information on durable solutions policies and practices to support UNHCR's advocacy and work to strengthen integration, resettlement and voluntary repatriation.
.Under guidance of the Integration Officer maintain external communication with relevant counterparts (incl. follow-up on individual cases, ensuring up-dating of country practices/regulations).
.Collect good practices on integration, resettlement and voluntary repatriation from Northern Europe for advocacy and communication purposes.
.In close coordination with the Resettlement Service at HQs, Europe Bureau and the Stockholm Office, monitor the annual resettlement quota allocations and policy developments in the Northern European countries related to resettlement and complementary pathway programmes.
.Prepare statistical and ad-hoc reports to ensure accurate information is available and shared with relevant offices and partners.

Qualifications and Professional experience:
.Completed Secondary Education in Humanities, law, politics or equivalent, with advanced training/certification in a related field
.Minimum 11 years of relevant work experience
.Previous experience in working on resettlement, voluntary repatriation and integration in the European/EU context, would be essential
.Demonstrated excellent drafting skills
.Excellent communication and networking skills
.Experience in training capacity building
.Good analytical and research skills
.Fluency in English and in one or more Scandinavian and/or Baltic languages is essential
