Nasdaq is looking for a Senior Specialist to join the Nordic Economic and Statistical Research team, the data and analytics hub of the exchange.

With this position, we offer you the opportunity to be part of the Nordic ESR team that provides the Nordic & Baltic region analytical support for all Nasdaq business units. This is achieved by providing Business Intelligence systems for self-service analysis, managing related data warehouse, and producing reporting and bespoke ad hoc analysis, all to help improve trading, capital formation and market structure.
The ESR team is the amalgamation of three areas: Technology, Research and Statistics, that are jointly responsible both for the technical infrastructure and for providing reporting and business insights from prudent management of trading data from our Nasdaq European Markets.
ESR Tech maintains a data warehouse and two Business Intelligence systems. Additionally, the team maintains a proprietary report agent for distributing large number of reports both for internal and external use. ESR Statistics produces statistics for the public, as well as national and international organizations such as the Riksbanken, SCB, IMF and FESE. ESR Research performs research on market quality, trading behavior. Both Stats and Research perform data analysis for business development and product development purposes.


Your role and responsibilities


In this role, you will conduct analysis and prepare reports for internal and external customers, and for senior management. You will do this by navigating BI tools and databases, and utilizing your strong analytical techniques to highlight changes and trends. You will calculate and extract meaningful business insights from market data, such as different liquidity metrics, turnover, spreads and orderbook depth. Additionally, you will also contribute to improving the systems, capabilities and way of working of the team.
You will have the responsibility for analysis and research covering the equity derivative and fixed income markets (non-exclusively). This will entail having or building up particular expertise in the Genium INET and downstream systems. Additionally, you will:
Contribute to and drive a variety of initiatives and projects by producing quantitative and qualitative analysis and providing recommendations based on findings
Take ownership of the data environment, initiate and designing improvements
Create clear, concise and organized communication materials (e.g. policies & procedures, technical documentation, guidelines, presentations)
Develop expertise in significant market, strategy and/or policy areas.
Establish and maintain relationships with key executives

We expect you to have
An academic degree in Engineering, Mathematics, Finance, Economics or equivalent
Approximately 8 years of relevant experience from the finance industry and related products and data.
Strong skills in SQL (MS, PostgreSQL, Redshift) for analytics
Expertise in business intelligence, and management or regulatory reporting
Experience in dimensional data modelling and designing ETL
Experience in producing actionable decision material for senior management, and have the ability to explain complex and technical concepts in a simple and meaningful way
Fluent English language skills

It would be great if you have
A background working with analysis and reporting in a trading environment with a good understanding of capital markets, market structure and the current regulatory environment
Expertise working with equity derivatives and fixed income
Working experience related to Genium INET or other downstream or interfacing systems
Programming skills in R, Python, SAS or similar, working with specialized statistical packages and large data sets
Experience in governing, developing and maintaining an enterprise data warehouse with high demands on data integrity and availability
Skills in econometrics, machine learning and/or statistical methods from other fields
Experience with cloud services (AWS, Redshift)
Experience working in a governed development environment, having version control, doing code review, producing technical documentation etc
