Arbetsbeskrivning

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.
We are constantly pushing our own skills and abilities to drive change in the automobile industry like never before. We are looking for innovative, committed people to join us in this endeavour and create safe, sustainable and connected cars. We believe in the power of people and will challenge and support you to reach your full potential. Join us and be part of Volvo Cars’ journey into the future.

The Opportunity
As part of our mission to enable the freedom to move in a personal, sustainable, and safe way we have just launched our first-generation battery electric vehicles; the XC40 and C40 Recharge. They are powered by an in-house designed battery developed by our great battery team in Gothenburg. To follow this, we are now working on the next-generation electric vehicle batteries that will propel our future products.

Are you an experienced electromechanical engineer looking for, not only, your next challenge but as important a team where you feel belonging and purpose by contributing to a more sustainable future? Then the role as Senior Electrical Design Engineer in our team Electrical HW Traction Battery is the pace for you to prosper.

Where You’ll Belong
We are a small but growing international team, playing an important role within the ART ensuring that our cars meet regulations and optimizing the battery range, charging and performance. By bottom-up technical decisions, we ensure that your voice will be heard.

Each and every one of us has a lot of autonomy in our work but at the same time the benefit of being part of a strong team and with a team manager that fraise it as he aims to create a dream team! We will challenge you and expect you to do the same to bring out the best from each one of us.

Work-life Balance is something that infuses Volvo Cars, one of our teammates describes it as good management with horizontal integration. What does work-life balance mean to you? Maybe it is to have a home-baked “fredagsfika” or the benefit of our family bond*, anyhow we will not make you disappointed in this area!

What You’ll Do
You will be designing electromechanical components Build To Print in sheet metal, plastic and copper. Examples of components are high voltage busbars, carrier plates in steel and plastics, touch protections, cable and harness routing, etc. for the battery disconnect unit (BDU) and for the battery compartment.

Since we are working in an agile environment, you will also be able to work with typical design leader tasks such as technic-logic planning, supplier contacts, vehicle builds etc. We work with Agile backlog and we’re developing not only the product but also ourselves, the team and the organizations with support from the Product Owner, Scrum Master and Team Manager.

You will also represent the team in packaging meetings and ensure that the technical documentation and part structures are available towards our factories. CAE, testing facilities and other departments will be in your working network and you will follow up on prototype car builds and manufacturing of prototypes, as well as perform design reviews, FMEAs etc.

Competence is Important
You have a technical BSc university degree or equivalent experience within the electrical field. In addition, you will need solid experience of working within product development and CAD-design in CATIA, NX or equivalent systems.

If you are certified in Six Sigma and have worked with, designing vehicle battery packs, EMC or cooling we are even more impressed.

Personality is Key
You appreciate developing both your personal and technical skills. You are humble, but with the ability to argue for your case. You are comfortable structuring work, but most importantly you strive for the feeling of being family at work, you share our belief that it is a great foundation for success!
