Role Overview
We are seeking a Senior Electrical Propulsion Motor & Controller Engineer to help design and develop our electric propulsion system, including the electric motors, motor controllers/inverters and variable-pitch propellers. This will be a broad role covering design, analysis and testing.
You will work in the Electric Propulsion Systems department, part of the engineering organization, and take broad responsibility for development, integration, qualification and certification of the electric motor and motor controller/inverter, including the thermal management system.
You will oversee the electrical propulsion system architecture including performance tradeoffs, components selection, cooling system specification and safety requirements compliance. You will define, specify and test all electrical motor and inverter system requirements targeting the compliance with safety, performance and program requirements.
Qualifications & Experience
- BS or MS in engineering (Electrical/Electronic)
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in electrical propulsion systems and/or electrical machines/power electronics
- Experience with Electrical Machines, Power Electronics and High Voltage applications
- Experience in aeronautical applications is desirable
- Knowledge with aerospace regulations and certification standards is also desirable but not essential
- Practical experience in a lab or test rig environment, including testing knowhow for high-voltage, high-power inverters and/or motors
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
- Eagerness to work with others
- A passion for aircraft and Heart’s mission
The ideal candidate would have
- Knowledge of power electronics components design and other components within the overall electric propulsion system
- Experience in selection, sizing, and design of components for building power electronics converters and inverters
- Working knowledge in manage and release system requirements and specifications
- Experience in managing suppliers and interfaces among stakeholders
- Experience in management of complex electrical and/or mechanical interfaces of distributed systems
- Knowledge in system modeling tools such as Matlab/Simulink are desirable
- Demonstrate excellent communication skills and provide timely, accurate reports and presentations to senior management and functional teams
- Well-organized and has excellent interpersonal and communication skills to work in international teams
- Willingness to defend and challenge new technical ideas
- Ability to adapt to new challenges and go beyond the original field of expertise
