The purpose of this role is to ensure that environmental activities meet the highest standards and complies with the legislation and internal rules and routines. The purpose is also the coach and assist the Active material team with expertise within this area. The Senior Environmental Engineer is, responsible to ensure that everyone in the active material operations have the basis for complying with Environmental safety laws.
Key responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Preparing and enforcing policies to establish a culture of Environmental Safety
Evaluate practices, procedures and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law.
Develop and execute Environmental safety plans in the workplace according to legal and other guidelines
Conduct training and presentations for Environment matters and accident prevention
Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations
Inspect process, equipment and machinery to observe possible unsafe conditions
Work with Problem solving mindset to Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes 
Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities or new prevention measures
Report on environmental issues and statistics
Lead Environmental Safety responsibility of Active Material Labs Operation
Air and Water emissions
Occupational exposure measurements/safety related work/chemicals
Environmental Training & reporting – both internal and external
Environmental permit compliance
Process utilities (wastewater) responsibility
Training of operations staff, ensuring smooth operation of new and existing treatment facility, and hand-over to operations
Trouble shooting and raising in house competence
Environmental Support for wider Active Material team
Sourcing – Supporting sourcing team with environmental related questions
Site selection – Support environmental side for future Active Material facilities (US3) and site selection process
Programs -  Support Programs team to ensure environmental compliance with environmental permits and Environmental Safety related issues

Qualifications/education/experience
Fluent in English
Bachelor or Master degree of Science in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
Experience from similar industries like paper & pulp, chemical, refinery
Experience in Lean Manufacturing concepts, SPC and capability analysis.
Very valuable (but not required) to have experience from battery manufacturing.
Good to have project management experience

Fluent in English
