Stockholm trio is an alliance between Karolinska Institutet, KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Stockholm University. The universities in the Stockholm trio will establish a joint EU office in Brussels. Through the cooperation in the alliance the universities, will become more competitive, and increase their influence and impact vis-à-vis government, authorities and funders. The EU is an important arena for this collaboration, particularly with respect to research funding, collaboration and innovation.
The Stockholm trio Brussels office will be located at the Stockholm Region EU Office. You will regularly report to the Stockholm trio via a coordinating group and will travel regularly to the three universities. You will be employed by the Grants Office (GO) at Karolinska Institutet. The initial goal of the office in Brussels is to increase the participation of Stockholm trio in EU's framework program for research and innovation, Erasmus and other programmes.
Responsibilities
Your main tasks will be to monitor, inform and influence actors and institutions within the EU for the benefit of the Stockholm trio, and to provide business intelligence in issues important for Higher education institutions. The new position will also help the universities increase their ability to influence policy making via direct contacts in Brussels. In addition, responsibilities will include the organisation of different types of events designed to showcase Stockholm trio research and researchers. The assignment will involve continuous collaboration with colleagues in related roles at the three universities of the Stockholm trio. Your responsibilities will also include development of collaborations with Swedish regional offices in Brussels, as well as other Swedish and international actors and networks. The work will be characterized by close contacts with various actors within the EU, universities, researchers, research groups, institutions and research funders, and will be performed in collaboration with the universities.
Qualifications
You have an academic degree relevant to the position, as well as several years of experience in working with research and research-related issues. Furthermore, you have experience of working with EU policy making. You have sound knowledge of the EU framework program for research and innovation, as well as experience of working with education, research, collaboration and innovation at a European level. An extensive European network is a prerequisite for the role. We are looking for someone who is proactive, dynamic with excellent skills in building relationships. You must also be analytical, responsible, and able to prioritise and enjoy working in a service-oriented manner. Since the work involves close contacts with a variety of different types of internal and external stakeholders, in addition to researchers, excellent communication skills are a must. A very high standard of English, both spoken and written, is required. In the selection of candidates, strong emphasis will be placed on personal suitability to the role.
Type of employment
Temporary employment for two years with the possibility of prolongation.
Location
The position is located at the Stockholm Region EU Office in Brussels. You will be directed by a working group and regularly meet and report to the universities. The position is organised under the Grants Office at Karolinska Institutet. Travel to the universities of the Stockholm trio will occur regularly.
