Senior Expert - Customs Programs

Arbetsbeskrivning

Who are we?
Volvo Cars is a company on a mission; to bring traditional car manufacturing into a connected, sustainable and smart future.
Since 1927, we have been a brand known for our commitment to safety, creating innovative cars that make life less complicated for our consumers. In 2010, we decided to transform our business, resulting in a totally new generation of cars and technologies, as well as steady growth and record sales. Today, we’re expanding our global footprint in Europe, China and the US, and we’re on the lookout for new talent.

Who we are?

When joining our Customs Programs team, you will belong to the Global Customs & Export Controls function which is part of the wider Procurement & Supply Chain organization. Our purpose is to design, implement and operate a world class ‘zero waste’ supply chain, through data-driven analysis and intelligent customs and export controls design.

We are on an exciting journey to change the way mobility is provided, how vehicles are developed, produced, and sold to global markets. Our Customs Programs team is in the middle of this and is an important part of this journey.
We believe that we are somewhat unique in the automotive world in that Customs is given a loud voice in global sourcing, production, export market distribution, and pricing decisions.

What’s in it for you?

At Volvo Cars, we are always looking for world-class talent, however for this role we are looking for you, who can use their customs knowledge, skills, and experience to influence business decisions that will drive our commercial success. If you want to be part of defining customs and global trade strategies for a future focused and forward-thinking automotive company, we have a job for you.

As part of our Customs Programs team, you will become a key influencer when it comes to designing our future infrastructure (e.g., industrial footprint, network setups, commercial transformation, etc.) and driving duty optimization in our car programs.

What you will do?

Together with the Global Customs & Export Controls team, you will own all customs matters related to car programs, company-wide changes, and future infrastructure initiatives.

Be responsible for understanding and analysing the customs implications of proposed company initiatives and energetically presenting the customs and export controls requirements and insights to senior management to ensure strategic decisions are made with a full appreciation of their customs consequences.

Project manage other functions within Global Customs & Export Controls, articulating plans and driving the delivery of customs and export controls inputs to ensure the successful completion of activities. You will drive our agenda and form new networks where you can guide the "Designed for Customs & Export Controls" philosophy.

As this is a new function within the Global Customs & Export Controls function, there are no ready-made scripts for you to follow so you will need to be prepared to forge new paths leading the way for us.

Do you fit the profile?

You are an experienced international Customs and Trade Advisor with a sound understanding of customs technical areas (such as valuation, origin, and classification), procedures and regulatory requirements. You have proven success in driving strategic customs matters in large global organisation or consulting firms.

You have commercial insight, can think beyond the comfort of customs and export controls textbooks, and drive innovative solutions that enable the company to move forwards.

You are comfortable with ambiguity and can provide indicative responses to strategic questions, using scenario-based models, estimates and assumptions or facts and figures, or a combination of both.  You are likely on the pathway for a leadership role or hold aspirations to take more of a driving role in your career.

You don't wait to be lead, you bring the ideas, direction and then deliver together with your team, as a team player who celebrates successes and does learnings together with the team. It is important for you to follow through on your commitments building trust with your team and colleagues.

You keep abreast with what is happening around you, both within the company and in the world, and you predict the implications of new developments, business ideas, changes in legislation, and create strategies to address that future. You map the processes needed to achieve those strategies keeping it simple for the other teams to translate them into an actionable roadmap.
